wiltOS Technologies has shared some screenshots and a video, showcasing Dark Messiah with full ray tracing/path tracing via RTX Remix.

In order to implement RTX Remix, KingDavidW made the game work with the DX7 API. What’s also interesting is that the modder has released the toolkit for the RTX Remix build so that others can make and dedicate themselves to a true RTX mod of Dark Messiah.

Going into more details, it took KingDavidW about 5 months to get everything in a decent state. Additionally, he has added a bunch of fixes and modifications to give the RTX modules a little more to work with, such as light rendering hacks and culling fixes.

It really is a shame how limiting RTX Remix is with game compatibility. The tech is amazing but to really open up and enjoy some great quality games in need of a graphics overhaul, we need to be able to mess with games that use shaders. It's too hard a cutoff to really get the most of. That's such a small window of time for gaming to have decently designed game worlds in 3D but not have shaders. That's like 1998 to 2001 and even then games started coming out with shaders around then.

This game really nails that FANTASY ADVENTURE feeling and it's better than anything made by Arkane later.
18 years later, still the best melee combat...

It looks OK. It's also extremely dark in places and I'm not sure if I like it that way.
Same problem VTM RTX remake is facing

Both games were made before the existence of shaders. Lighting was "painted" on textures. You have to remake textures and add a bunch of light sources to make it look correct. Otherwise there will be dark places everywhere.

RTX Remix is cool, but notice how no project was released yet for it. It's not as simple as some people think it is.

The game wasn't really a looker back in 2006 or whatever, so there's really not much to work with to make it much better. Unless you somehow can add new lightsources and models everywhere.

But it does look like it made some of those really ugly looking spots presentable.
