yeah that's pretty decent. Nobody expected this game to sell well especially without any advertisement.

With no football competition on GCN, EA is going to clean up the profit share on this one...

Sure it will get outsold by the XBox and PS2 versions, but that's why their #1, they hit all markets...

Wario64

works for Gamestop (lol)
It's sold out in most places too, as shown in the other ToS thread

Pretty good sign for the game though

Lonestar

I joined for Erin Brockovich discussion
I bought #2 and 3 at the same time.

Been playing them since, but not in that same order ;)

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions

Maybe this'll give Namco some more oompf into making more GC RPG's.

Or maybe just bring over Phantasia, which they have passed over THREE FUCKING TIMES

remember this tracks sales for ONLINE only, so this probably represents something like .1% of the market, but at least it's something...

Checked compusa.com

5 stores in a 49 mile radius, all sold out except for 1 store (which is in limited quantities)

Checked gamestop.com

4 stores in a 10 mile radius, all sold out except for 2 stores (each store only reporting 1-3 copies left)

I live in San Jose too, which is where Namco is based, so I assume we get restocks quicker

It's kind of bizarre how well ToS is selling; I don't remember ToD or ToD2 pushing any kind of notable numbers.

Maybe because everyone realized the Cube is so fucking starved on RPGs.

People seem more likely to buy a game that caters to the RPG crowd than a sports game online.

very different market. markedly different game. much better release timing than either ToD release. and it's a better game than either of its predecessors, too.

it's nice to see. i think namco's pleased, as well. especially as they've probably already been hit with reorders from just about everyone. =)

It's all EB Games sales, AFAIK.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Interesting that the game is probably doing better than it would have on PS2.

I don't buy the arguement that it's because the GC is RPG starved. I would think most people who care about RPGs wouldn't be GCN only.

Release timing seems like a good theory, though. It's definitely a far better game than previous installments, I agree.

videogames.com links to ebgames.com where it refers to where the figures come from, so AFAIK, it's ONLINE only...

also, it somehow says "13-19th", so somehow it's counting today, and I doubt they could gather store figures for their nationwide stores all that easily in a short amount of time...

I think they may even to the whole "averaging" thing using their Top Ten daily and not even use unit sales for these charts...

I remember some figure going around during one NPD thread that EB represented something around 10% of the gaming market.

and I think probably 5% of their sales are online, so basically about .5% of the NPD estimates...

Yeah, they can. The POS terminals at stores report sales and inventory immediately to corporate. This is true for most major chains, and its also true for major music retailers.

they definitely wouldn't be. i think this game probably appeals (and why should it not?) to zelda fans, which is just about everyone who owns the console. given that it's been a while since wind waker and a while till the new one, why not try symphonia?

what about Four Swords Adventure, I'm sure that attracted some Zelda fans (I think A Link to the past has sold over a million on GBA, and about 1.6 million for The Wind Waker, and I'm sure some of these people know each other, and there are a ton of connectivity cables out there, and Crystal Chronicles has sold about 300,000)...

so expect some good sales for Four Swords Adventure...

I think there's been a lot of "grass roots" hype for the game... not sure what I'm basing this on, but it does seem to have a lot of interest from GC gamers who aren't big RPG fans.

I actually think this, in conjuction with the GC-RPG starved theory explains most of it.

Well, I've been running into a lot of GC fans I know... folks who normally DON'T buy RPGs... and they are eager to get ToS.

I know, it's all anecdotal.

So is there ever going to be a commercial for the game then? I thought Namco said not, but since the game is a much bigger success than they thought it would be....

It's battle system is veyr appealing.

And that really sucks how so many of you haven't played Phantasia. One of my favorite SNES games. Great game; really enjoyed the characters too.
