The current gen update of The Witcher 3 has allowed us to dive back into the disorders of a world full of charm, mysterious and overflowing with sensory nuances. Although with a high-caliber facelift, the third chapter of the series remains the son of its generation, for better or for worse.

Gameblog - Julien Inverno - French - 10 / 10
The Witcher III was one of the biggest video games of 2015, it is now, thanks to this careful update for the latest consoles, one of the biggest of 2022, unabashedly thanks to the care given to these PS5, Xbox Series and PC versions.

God is a Geek - Chris White - 10 / 10
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen update makes a great game even better, improving practically every element of the much loved game.

Hobby Consolas - Álvaro Alonso - Spanish - 95 / 100
The perfect example of how all next-gen updates should be: visual improvements on all fronts, several graphic modes, playable and QOL changes, a few touches of new content... And more importantly: completely free. The Witcher 3 was already a masterpiece and now, in addition, it looks scandalous.

Metro GameCentral - Nick Gillett - Unscored
This is likely to be the definitive version of a great game, and an excellent excuse to dive back into its gloriously rich and varied world, but at the moment it’s a bug-ridden mess that’s more trouble to play than the seven-year-old original. We’re sure by next Christmas it’ll all be running perfectly but all you get this year is a lump of 4K coal.

PSX Brasil - Ivan Nikolai Barkow Castilho - Portuguese - 100 / 100
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS5 is still the fantastic adventure that won over thousands of players in the last generation. It's basically one of the best games of all time improved in many points, such as loading, frame rate and graphics. The free upgrade just make things even better. However, don't expect anything new though – at its heart it's the same game we enjoyed in 2015 and its expansions later on.

PlayStation Universe - Timothy Nunes - 9 / 10
Not everything is perfect in this current-gen upgrade, but the additions, new choices, and improvements make this version of the game feel complete. Despite the oddities that come with the new camera option, the presentation across the board just feels superb. It even lets those who missed the expansions jump right into that content from the jump. Such a great update to a beloved game comes free with the PS4 version, leaving this as almost a requirement for everyone who even remotely has an interest in playing it again or experiencing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for the first time.

Polygon - Cameron Kunzelman - Unscored
The next-gen upgrade is going to make that available for more people, and I’m excited for that. But it did leave me with a melancholy feeling about where we’ve been and, given the future of The Witcher franchise, where a post-Cyberpunk Witcher game might go. I hope CD Projekt Red’s 2015 RPG, rather than the one it released in 2020, is the foundation that’s built upon.

Push Square - Robert Ramsey - 9 / 10
Over seven years after its original release, The Witcher 3 is still a masterpiece. In its character writing and dialogue, it's yet to be surpassed, while its knack for telling so many engrossing stories is still seriously impressive. Although aspects of its gameplay haven't aged quite so well, there's no doubt that Complete Edition is the best version of a truly outstanding open world adventure.

Spaziogames - Stefania Sperandio - Italian - Unscored
They called it Complete Edition and this one, which is the best version of The Witcher 3 to date, is complete indeed.

VGC - Jordan Middler - 5 / 5
While some cracks are beginning to form around the edges, the people who’ve played the game 10 times already won’t care, and will be thrilled to hear that the next-gen version of the game provides a definitive console experience and a great reason to head back out into the wilds.

XboxEra - Jesse Norris - 9.5 / 10
The Witcher 3 is nearly a masterpiece. If the combat and movement were better, it would be for me. As is this is one of the best experiences in gaming, and everyone should play this version of it.

Any word on if mods will work with the complete edition, or if its a whole new code/system that we'll have to wait on mods being remade for. Some of the QoL mods are going to be hard to give up when switching to this :(

Can’t Git Gud
Just 2 modes correct? I don't like when there is two modes... 2 is enough and sometimes too much lol.
I also like 120hz modes for 40fps if they are available.
The big problem this gen is that 30fps modes feel like DOGSHIT. Bloodborne migh've stuttered a bit but it's 30fps is at least 75ms faster to control than 30fps in demons souls remake... similar in forspoken. Something is wrong with these 30fps modes on new consoles.
I will possibly play this on pc since I have steam version but I like the idea of owning ps5 physical version when it comes out

97 is about right. One of the finest games ever made. Not played it since release, however I can’t think of anything that would have made it antiquated over time. Can’t wait for 4/TWRemake.

Time to wait a few months for my favourite mods to get updated before playing, but rtgi and increased draw distance/detail level sound dope. I hope they add extra draw distance option to cyberpunk with phantom liberty.

Thank god this was exactly what was needed.

  • Additionally, PC players with compatible hardware have an additional option to turn on ray traced reflections and shadows.

The reflections pissed me off so hard in the original game, finally fixed.

Nope. RT mode is capped at 30. Playing on a theoretical PS5 Pro would increase the dynamic resolution though, as the current PS5 RT mode averages something like 1138p.

I never much cared for this game as the combat was so terrible. Just heard there is a mod for making all combat encounters a card game which sounds hilarious, might give that a shot.

edit - ah it seems the card game is actually part of the game. I don't remember that. Has anyone tried it?
