Might check it out if it has good reviews. But visually it looks ugly.

What’s up with all the anime thrash? Is it that cheaper than a film? Is Netflix laundering Yakuza’s money?

Animation is significantly cheaper than live action, specially if you are making a fantasy action movie with lots of fantasy environments, creatures, magic, etc.
These Netflix original animations are often pretty low quality too, with low framerates and low detail art work, so that probably makes them extra cheap.

Tbf Netflix anime has been killing in in the past 2 or so years. It was trash before that tho

Netflix has become really good as securing streaming deals for good shows like Dungeon Meshi, Dandadan, Edgerunngers, etc. But those are mostly external productions that Netflix is simply licensing to show.
The stuff they actually make in house and fully fund themselves is still mostly bad.

Not sure about Pluto, it was indeed great though (let's do 20th Century Boys next!!!!).
But Arcane isn't a Netflix original (it's not an anime either but I guess it doesn't matter). It was a Riot X Fortiche production, all the writing and creative stuff was done by them and Riot paid for the bulk of the production. Netflix was just the distributor, they paid $3 mill an episode for the rights to stream the show on their service but that's only around 20% of the total budget of the show.

Well they have the right voice actor for a start. The first-person part was cool, but I hope it isn't overused.

I'll probably watch it if I get a spare couple of hours.
