When a handsome painter Hubert Page arrives at the hotel, Albert is inspired to try and escape the false life she has created for herself. She gathers her nerve to court beautiful, saucy young maid Helen in whom she thinks she‟s found a companion – but Helen‟s eye is on a new arrival: handsome, bad-boy Joe, the new handy-man. the line-up is great indeed; there are a lot of films on that list i want to see.

did val kilmer eat robin?

Really? Personally I think it's the weakest of the past 5 years. So far.

Considering this is less than half the films that are going to be announced, I think it is stellar. There are so many I'm looking forward to on that list.

The Ides of March, Moneyball, Drive and A Dangerous Method's are the ones that will stand out I think. Although apparently on Moneyball, Sorkin only did a last minute rewrite according to the Guardian. I thought he'd done the whole script.

I have a feeling Melancholia might turn out to be a dud. I hope not though.

Some good looking movies in there. Was student pricing always $15 a ticket? Seems like it's lower this year.. Might just be my imagination.

Out of the ones not mentioned, SHAME, RAMPART, and 360 all stick out to me.

Liked/loved Hunger, The Messenger, and City of God!

If I recall correctly Black Swan and The King's Speech were the major event films of last year's festival. I'm trying to see what those two likely will be now, because grabbing tickets for them's going to be hard (unless I win the lottery in the next three weeks and blow $10k).

Alright, so just at TIFF? Here would be my categories.

NOTE: I'm excluding films like 50/50, Drive, Moneyball, Ides of March which all come out within a month after the fest. I strongly encourage you to check out 50/50 and Drive though since I've seen them and they are two of the year's best. The following below are exclusive premieres as well, followed by stuff that played at other fests.

Oscar-tier (somewhat locked to be part of the race)
The Descendents
A Dangerous Method
360 (unless it is a failure like Blindness)

2nd Oscar-tier (up in the air but STRONG talent involved)
Shame
Rampart
Albert Nobbs
Take This Waltz

"Out there" films that are hard to peg down
Twixt
Machine Gun Preacher

Stuff that premiered at other festivals that you should see
Martha Marcy May Marlene (loved this movie, too arthouse to be a contender)
We Need To Talk About Kevin
Melancholia
Coriolanus (heard fantastic things after Berlin premiere. Fiennes' directorial debut)
The Artist (strong Oscar contender it looks like)
Take Shelter
The Skin I Live In

....then there are a lot minor films I'm interested in.

I don't think so. I asked my writer who saw at SXSW, will see what he says. Full line-up on Wed.

I was only taking a stab in the dark anyways, haha. Detention kind of looks... terrible from that trailer, so it would have been an odd choice.

I'm going to try and get into the premiere of that, not just the press screening. I bet Coppola and Dan Deacon will perform the film live like they previewed at San Diego Comic-Con. Will be f'in crazy if anything.

We posted some new photos the other day:

Love that one ^

Great photo. I'm only an hour away here in Buffalo. I'm seriously considering attending though I don't know the specifics on how it operates.

Would be quite awesome...

Oh cool, I graduated from UB and went up all four years. You can get a package, or just buy tickets individually when they go up a few weeks before it begins. My friend and I had the most luck doing the latter. You probably won't get into the premieres, but you can get into the second showings. I'm in NYC now, so flying up the 8th early and staying until the 18th! All my press screenings are just at Scotiabank, so I end up seeing about 5 movies a day since I can do them back to back easily. Then I'll go to a handful of Midnight Madness ones and/or other showings.

I just saw that on your website. Small world!

I'd just love to see it there, second showing or not.

Considering this is less than half the films that are going to be announced, I think it is stellar. There are so many I'm looking forward to on that list.
I prefer to see films that will be coming out in november, december. Paying a premium for movies coming out 2 weeks later just aint for me

What's the different between Regular and Premium single tickets?

What's the best option?

How do we know what movies are included for the weekend Wavelength and 5-Pack Sampler options?

I really can't see Twixt getting a wide release in the UK. Not sure about USA openings, is Val Kilmer a big enough star to pull it off? The vampire teens will put off the traditional Coppola audience and the Huge Val Kilmer will put off the teen audience.

The trailer was actually going fairly well until the ghosts wearing heavy white foundation and lots of eye shadow appeared.

Bobcat Goldthwait's synopsis of God Bless America is hilarious:

"There’s a middle aged guy and he’s at home watching a show like My Super Sweet 16, you know that show?…there’s always a horrible kid who gets everything she wants…”I wanted an Escalade! You ruined everything!” So he’s sitting at home watching a show like that, and he drives 400 miles and kills that girl – spoiler alert! – and then her friend, well not a friend, a classmate, is going “did you kill Chloe?” and he doesn’t say anything, and she goes “awesome.” So then they get in this stolen Camaro and drive around and kill people. We’re hoping for a Christmas release.”

Out of the ones not mentioned, SHAME, RAMPART, and 360 all stick out to me.

Liked/loved Hunger, The Messenger, and City of God!

yeah I'm really excited to see Shame. Fassbender teaming up with the Hunger director again? And with Carey Mulligan to boot...god damn.

360 and Dangerous Method really interest me too. And Twixt because I really wanna see Coppola's take on horror again.

edit: oh and killer joe because I like emile hirsch. He deserves more film roles.
