Ubisoft removes Yasuke completely from Assassin's Creed Shadows's pre-order banner

The previews stated that the black character was not really well implemented from a game mechanics perspective.

We have two scenarios:

1.They crumbled under the Chuds' pressure and reduced his importance (which would be bad).
2. That was his implementation all along (which would be even worse).
Where's the good option and what is it in your mind?

Besides a bunch of angry japanese dudes, who is actually upset about this character? And why?
Looking at the last story trailer Ubisoft just released a day ago, you can see there are a lot of negativity surrounding the game based on the like and dislike ratio as well as the comments in both the Japanese and English trailers. as to why? different reasons depending on who you ask.

Wow, those are getting hammered.

Unlike most people my issue with this games has nothing to do Yasuke or how much "accurate" to history is, its their game and they free to do whatever they want.

My bigger issue is Assassins's Creed or even most Ubisoft's general design choices and gameplay loop and I don't think Yasuke going change that for me.

Yasuke was a horrible idea and can not be remedied or fixed anymore. Derek Chauvin as a samurai in Resident Evil 5 remake would be fantastic though.

Unbelievable, they compeltely erased him from the preorder pages.......
ohh wait.
wait.
This just in.
They didnt:

They should just remove him altogether.

Completely different situation. And Ubi should remove him altogether

Why remove him all together?
Some people liked the aggro builds from Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla, they should still have an option to play that style.

I think he would make a cool character in game or DLC char, but not the main. Looking at couple previews and his gameplay just doesn't mesh well with AC, IMO.

I take it you havent played Origins, Odyssey or Valhalla.......cuz his playstyle is what most replicates aggro builds from those games Naoes playstyle replicates older AC games.

They're one step away from offering a Japanese native skin and alternative dialogue pack for Yasuke now

Which would confirm that the main reason people dont like Yasuke is because of his race.
Aka Racism.

Because he's black. What else lol?

I had to ask just in case they had a good reason beyond he is black and doesnt fit in.

Yeah I have zero interest to stomp around with him. I play in stealth, if I get spotted I try to get into stealth again, I literally never go on some full on rampage mode in Assassin's Creed. The goal is to go in, take out the target, go out, not be spotted.

this doesn't seem to be the case for the european and asian pages

Store pages are unchanged everywhere, pre-order pop up has him centered

Basically a whole bunch of nothing.

I agree this is like if Tarantino hypothetically made a Japanese man the main character of Django unchained.

Kill Bill made sense and was awesome.

Come to think of it 🤔 the story beats of Kill Bill would probably make a good Assassin's Creed game.

It's a fictional game ffs
Like why do we let petulant children dictate the most random shit about media these days
I think it's because it's so far out of left field. There isn't a single circumstance imo where a samurai game you'd expect to be none other than a Japanese protagonist, it's a slam dunk, it's as easy as it gets... Ac fans were asking for a Japanese setting for years and this is what they get a black dude that wasn't even a samurai..its the circumstances, not because he's black but because it absolutely doesn't fit 99% of the time like why be cute about it ubisoft? Why not just make it a layup protagonist that is simply a true samurai?

It's why dei is so hated imo is half the time it feels forced shoehorned in. Yea its just a game but settings themes atmosphere all have to jive together.

It's just a typical choice given the era we live in, any other time in gaming history this is a Japanese samurai without a question.

It's amusing to see Ubisoft scrambling and fumbling around to do damage control for their flagship franchise

Retribution have come for these big gaming studios run by woke social justice activists, Rocksteady's Suicide Squad, Sony's Concord, EA's Dragon Age, Ubisoft's Star Wars and now Assassin's Creed.

If you make woke trash, you will lose hundreds millions of dollars

Edit: I see others have already pointed this out.

That's a reach. If you click the preorder button on that page it takes you here:

How about the main reason is authenticity? The first time I heard about him I thought it was strange historically speaking, and it turns out yeah it is strange historically. I don't see my issues with the game as racist in any shape or form.
