After missing key data last week, GfK has finally provided an updated look at the UK charts so we can get an idea of where all the newbies have landed.

For Nintendo's latest, that's a little way down. The latest look informs us that Mario & Luigi: Brothership got off to a good start last week (not that we saw it) and arrived in third, but the same can't be said for its second appearance as the Bro-led RPG has wound up in 12th this week.
Two more newbies, LEGO Horizon Adventures and Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, follow behind in their chart debut, claiming 13th and 14th, respectively. This leaves the top ten much as we'd expect to find it. Super Mario Party Jamboree and Super Mario Bros. Wonder are still hanging around at fourth and fifth, but the only new entry is Farming Simulator 25, which breaks into the upper levels at sixth.

Here's a look at this week's top 40 in full, with platform breakdowns for all of the titles available on other consoles alongside the Switch:

It's painfully obvious why Japanese and other Asian developers skip the platform so often. Look at them Dragon Quest III shares.
That situation already existed in the days of X360 and XBO and to a much greater extent.

The fact is that it is the generation where fewer games of Asian origin skip XBOX. I suppose there must be some reason because Studios and publishers do not release games on a platform that is not where it is not interesting to do so .🤷🏻

How dare farming simulator knock Mario Kart down a spot!!

Seems a bit low for Dragon Quest but I suppose this is more a FF country.

Dragon age plunges some more.

The reason is Microsoft making it rain. Why else would Persona 5 debut in GP?

And why would you care it's a BOXED chart? Digital versus Physical shares are not that far off between PS and Xbox.

And yet Methaphor is released on Xbox and it's not a Gamepass game... It's clear that MS sometimes does its part so that games that weren't released on Xbox before do so today (Gamepass agreements). But of course that's not all the cases, far from it.

What I wanted to say is that the situation of Japanese-Asian games that skip Xbox has always occurred, it's not something new. And the fact is that it's the generation where there are fewer cases in a great extension. Nothing more.

It's relevant because the % of physical box sales doesn't tell the reality of total unit sales on any platform, even less on one where 91% of the total is digital. A 10-15% of the total could mean interesting figures for the Studio or publisher in their decision to make a port to Xbox. Because as I said, there is no Studio or Publisher that releases games on a platform if it's not interesting to do so.

Dragon Age Veilguard doing some nice numbers lol

Also, the numbers show that people are having some hard time choosing between picking Mario Party and Horizon lol

Not really for both cases lmao

Wish DQIII had done better!
Yeah, same... all the data we've gotten so far points to the sales predominantly coming from Japan and Asia across all three major platforms for the game (Switch, PS5, PC).

Since you're probably more informed and can make better estimates than I can, what do you think the split between Asia + Japan and the rest of the world (ROTW) would be? Personally, I wouldn’t be too surprised if it’s something like 80% Asia/Japan and 20% ROTW.

BOXED charts where Xbox owners are known to buy 1 boxed for 9 digital.

Xbox games having two games in the top 11 but and not even letting Horizon get a sniff in the top 10 nice rats.
So what? PS Digital sales ratio is 7 / 10 (as of may 2024), so your point is stupid and desperate. :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

What’s stupid and desperate about it? They’ve sold what is it 1/3 the consoles of Sony in the UK so several million? And the sales reflect that same split with a higher attach rate for Xbox gamers digitally as more consoles are digital.

Writes a lot, says very little
and MS wonder why devs are abandoning the platform :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:
I'm saying!

When you see shit like 4%, 2%, what actual fuck is going on there? lol

I need folks to remember this when Square does that 180 on support, they are still a business and its wild to see such figures be split to such a massive ratio.

I think you're in the right area. I expect the game to be around 1 million physical in Japan (750,000 Switch, 250,000 PS) at launch, and shortly cross 2 million in Asia with digital.

If we get another 500,000 from outside Asia, that gives us the 80/20 split.

Not surprised about the low software sales of DQ3 on Xbox. The majority of Xbox gamers have always shunned Jrpgs. I don't know why publishers still insist on releasing their games there. But it's cute that Phil is still trying to make the genre a thing on Xbox.

It's tremendous, the Xbox numbers are similar to the current PS4 numbers! I hope the gamepass is super rentable, because the loss in sales is devastating.

[Europe]"PS5 game sales are 32% physical, Xbox Series S and X are 19% physical, and Switch sales are 65% physical."

Xbox’s mission to be ‘adorably all-digital’ cemented by waning physical game sales in Europe

Don't expect physical Xbox games to be stocked on store shelves for much longer, as Microsoft's focus turns fully to digital.

Xbox is going full digital, physical sales means nothing with this context.
