I was reading the game's Wiki page, it appears the director was approached by Vanillaware head to start and lead to project. Maybe it was supposed to be an one and done arrangement? Not necessarily talent loss for the studio.

Man... that's a loss for Vanillaware, imho. That being said, maybe he can go to Square and make a new Ogre Battle.

Vanillaware are not known to make sequels but they do make DLCs like they did with Muramasa.

I wouldn't mind seeing Unicorn Overlord get DLC episode or something.
