Update 7 reduces the installation footprint of Forza Motorsport by around 15-20%, decreasing its file size by 25GB on Xbox Series X|S and 29GB on PC

Thick Thighs Save Lives

NeoGAF's Physical Games Advocate Extraordinaire
The latest update for Forza Motorsport is rolling out today in the form of "Update 7", and interestingly it actually helps to reduce the overall file size for the game across on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC moving forward.

After today's update, Forza Motorsport's file size will be reduced by 25GB on Xbox Series X and S, and 29GB on PC. That's particularly great news for the Xbox Series S owners out there, who don't exactly have much room to play with

As for the other additions in Update 7, the Brands Hatch track makes its debut, a Retro Racers Tour has been added to the career mode, and various other "experience improvements" have been made to the game as well.

We'll throw the full Xbox & PC patch notes for Forza Motorsport "Update 7" down below:

They need all hands to the pump to fix the plethora of broken or lackluster elements to this game.

I will be my life they start adding new DLC to buy, now the car pass has run out, rather than focusing on what matter to the players.
Of course they will and then will have a Pikachu face when “engagement “ drops off the cliff.

Anything north of 100GB really makes me keep scrolling when I'm browsing the ol uninstalled Steam library looking for stuff to play. Texture sizes are out of control. The magnitude for which they are bigger now does not match how little the upgrade is. Games are 3x the size and look 1.25x better. I'm replaying Arkham Knight right now and even without cherry picked screenshots it compares with anything not named Cyberpunk. (Ark Knight is actually extremely underrated btw)

Already happened.

Proper salty about this one if you can't tell. Used to love Forza and was really looking forward to this one.
Yep, I was hoping they will have a technically and visually solid game with a good SP portion, a great wheel support and “reasonable” MTX expectations. Oh boy was I wrong.

Exactly. just realease a decent game and then build the live service on top of that.

MS have it all backwards. Halo was the same. You don't launch barebones GAAS then build the rest of the game. Fucking Idiots.

Cool, game installation sizes are getting real fucking bloated these days.
So bad…I wanted to revisit COD Cold War just for a quick FPS fix over the weekend, and it was like 130 gigs on ps5, I’m like why? By the time its finished downloading I won’t even be in the mood to play it anymore. And it’s not like anything about the game is groundbreaking.

Glad they're improving the game but the 60 FPS limit in multiplayer is still a deal breaker for me.
Be nice if it was a steady 60fps, never mind anything else. The frame rate is all over the place for no reason when locked to 60fps on some tracks.

This is great and all but I'm still waiting on a patch that will improve graphics on console to something closer to the original gameplay they were showing and bragging about!

What Pc you got? Last time I checked (2 patches ago)I got slightly better than XSX settings with full (I think)RT/RTGI at 4k locked 60fps with a 4060 laptop.

I've come to the conclusion that Turn 10 could patch the game into 1gb, patch it onto the greatest racing game ever made by a landslide, and some peope here would still say it was trash without ever lifting a controller to play it again.

The game should be fantastic out of the box, its the premier flagship first party racer from xbox.

We shouldn't be accepting a substandard experience whilst the devs patch this game into something actually worth playing.

Its the worst Forza by quite a large margin.

Edited: for clarity.

Certain people have been shouting this from the damn rooftops for the last couple years...they've literally been doing it backwards when it comes to gaming and gamers. It's almost as if they feel like GP is such a great deal that they can act with impunity when it comes to any backwards, anti gamer shit they want.

Microsoft and Phil has been a walking talking contradiction this entire generation. As soon as GP became their priority, all the promises of Series X being a hardcore gamers machine went away. So many things have hurt their brand and even damaged gaming in other areas.

Forza is another one but I'm more mad that the game doesnt live up to early trailers and dev promises. Don't get me wrong I HATE online only games amd think that shit should be banned but GT7 is guilty of the same thing.

MS has been at the helm of some awful practices this generation though like forcing CrossPlay into all their multiplayer games and ruining these games for a lot of console players on the process! You know like their original audience who played and bought these games for 25 years now has to deal with cheating and going against mouse and keyboard. That one thing was pushed by MS and now is becoming the defacto way competitive multiplayer is played.

These studios are all sneaky about how they force that shit into our games, by making CrossPlay the default setting and making it so that you can only compete against other controller users if you play the sweaty, Ranked gametypes. I remember when this issue first reared its ugly head in COD MW 2019 ...on Playstation you could turn CrossPlay off but on Xbox you couldn't. It's all part of their whole agenda of merging console with the PC, which they think will result in more mtx sales and fuller lobbies. The more people playing together the more $$ from people seeing others buy certain skins and gear packs.

Look at the review section for Halo Infinite, Sea of Thieves, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 2042, Gears 5 and you will see there are hundreds of people complaining about CrossPlay and cheating! Yet they don't change it.

MS really showed their true colors this gen, I just hope they havnt damaged the industry as a whole because Sony has started to adopt some of the same practices ....the mergers of pubs, pushing crossplay, live services, services in general, pushing into the PC market etc. Some of these things have some benefits initially for gamers esp PC gamers, you guys have struck the lottery this generation however this stuff absolutely sucks for console only gamers. We didn't have to deal with cheating, didn't have to worry about development being stretched too thin, we used to get more optimization aka consoles "punching above their weight" etc

Let me guess, the update also adds content that was in Forza 7 and removed at launch so they can keep drip feeding us with "new" stuff.
Yep, all off the tracks they've added post launch aren't new, the game simply had way less tracks on day 1 than past FM games. Some cars are brand new, but they've already had a lot of the models ready from FH5.

I'm not going back until they start adding permanent career events... and if that doesn't happen, welp, I've got quite a few racing games in my backlog and on my radar.

A premier flagship racer should be in a certain state eh? What happened to GT7 then, based on user score overage of 2.4 based on 11 thousand reviews?
At least Forza is still above a 7......
That's what I said. Do you not agree?

No idea about "scores" I'm basing it on my own expectations. I didn't like GT7 either for reference, but at least it had a functioning penalty system, saftey rating, matchmaking and progression systems. The tracks didn't disappear right in front of you half the time either. Still bored me to tears but at least it actually worked.

I have a 4090 laptop and a 4070 desktop. The game benches at around 80-90fps from my recollections but when you lock it to 60 in multiplayer it has random drops on certain tracks that make it horrible to play. They might have fixed it now , ill have another go next time i get chance.

I really enjoy this game. I don’t play it or GT7 on the competitive side. Or even Multiplayer for that matter. There is quite a bit I like more about Forza compared to GT and vice versa. Looking forward to running some laps on Brands Hatch.

T10 does need to unfuck themselves on the older fantasy tracks though.

I need to try this when I get Gamepass for Hellblade 2. There was so much talk about how bad this was at launch that I never egen tried it. Is there a VR mod yet? Would make me more interested, I don’t have a triple screen setup anymore.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

No one is forcing Sony to 'adopt the same practices'. Don't you get tired of posting this in every Xbox thread?

Also, this is a thread about a game reducing its fuckin' installation footprint, smh.

Exactly. just realease a decent game and then build the live service on top of that.

MS have it all backwards. Halo was the same. You don't launch GAAS then build the rest of the game. Fucking Idiots.
Maybe need to take this like a lesson.

I waited till now to start Diablo 4. Gamepass release forced my hand else would ve waited another year.

Same for Dragons Dogma 2. My type of game but not playing for at least a year.

Will start BG3 next despite getting it on release. Same for Rogue Trader.

Its a given pretty much, games take forever to make, then another year before they become playable.

Recently played Payday 3 and Redfall, both are in good shape now. Had good time.

Nothing wrong in waiting.

Six years to make this game. Where all the other Forza games were made in two. Something is seriously wrong at Microsoft Game Studios.
Turn 10 used to iterate on their previous games, same engine with smaller changes, that’s why they could pump out new ones so quickly. This time they went for a bigger change and it cost them on the dev time.

That's what they said they did, but people spotted reused content going all the way back to the original pretty quickly. Including carrying over mistakes that were originally made with the cars, etc.

Sad but true. Playing day 1 always give you the worst possible experience. Except you won’t have the story spoiled, unless there is a leak. Patching a game after release it’s pretty much normalized now. Maybe everything should just be defined as Early Access? 🤔

Waiting is difficult though. I do it when there are too many issues or a delayed PC release but otherwise I’m usually there playing hours after a game has been released.

Not talking about assets, they went deep on the engine and rendering and physics, plus made a whole different gameplay structure (for better or worse…)

I have a 4090 laptop and a 4070 desktop. The game benches at around 80-90fps from my recollections but when you lock it to 60 in multiplayer it has random drops on certain tracks that make it horrible to play. They might have fixed it now , ill have another go next time i get chance.
Being honest I haven't played multiplayer on PC. I mainly play the single player now and again for the odd hour on the odd week on SX just to check out updates and I quite enjoy it to be honest. I'm just a bit burnt out on racing games at the moment. I know near launch I could barely match my Series S settings and I'd get big drops in fps in single player on my laptop. I'll check out MP on it in a few days.
