How many versions of this game do we need? Rollback netcode should have been in the ps4/ps5 version. Many people were asking for it. Will that version even be updated to this revo version?

It's been so long since I played Virtua Fighter, I honestly can't remember if I liked it or not. Looking forward to trying it out again.

Fighting games tend not to for gameplay reasons.

Yeah, but those reasons don't really make sense to me.

It's easy to tell where the "wall" is in 2D fighters, even with the extra horizontal space.

3D fighters tend to either have a physical wall that's part of the stage or ring out, neither of which would be affected by ultrawide.

I already own Virtua Fighter 5 (Feb. 2007), Virtua Fighter 5: Online (Oct. 2007), Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Complete Edition (Jun. 2012), and Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown (Jun. 2021) with all the dumb extras. I will probably buy this too but at this point I get the feeling that Virtua Fighter 6 is never happening and they are going to keep building on the worst aspects of Final Showdown...

P.S. I really like the song in the trailer, but it is the same damn footage as Ultimate Showdown opening.

Title name is a little misleading. So this is not VF5 R remastered, it's a port of VF5 US.

To be honest i don't care that much, i played the PS4 version a little and didn't like at all. Hope a proper VF6 is in the making.

no crossplay. with playstation. absolutely ridiculous
We've been spoiled lately with all these crossplay fighting games. So it's hard when a game comes out, isn't crossplay and isn't a giant IP either so online matchmaking will probably be rough. DoA5 had a similar issue on PC since the overwhelming player base was on Playstation.

I will buy this but I don't expect it will replace Tekken 8 as my main game. The latter is ever so improving and has a huge playerbase to matchmake with. 3D fighters are just too damn fun not to play.

The game doesn't even have proper PS4 Pro support, leave alone PS5 or PS5 Pro. Edges flicker like crazy at 1080p and reflections in puddles etc. are faked so lamely, they look ridiculous whenever the camera shows a scene from higher up. It's always nice to get to play VF again, but this always seemed like a pretty shoddy release. Will any of this ever be fixed or will they keep tinkering with online play exclusively?

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
🤡^

Sigh. Great game and as modern as any fighter despite its age but come on. Why not just update and port the last one to all platforms and make it cross play instead of yet another different version confined to one platform (even the one I'll be playing on)?

It's a free update for Ultimate Showdown on PS4 apparently.

All of Sega's stepes suggest that VF6 will happen, if Yu Suzuki doesn't work on the production, we're sure it will be the best virtua fighter ever.
I just hope it has some content. The original release of Virtua Fighter 5 had Quest mode boasting hundreds of different AI opponents with varied playstyles. Final Showdown had special AI arcade ladders and a Mission mode with hundreds of challenges. Ultimate Showdown didn't even have a Vs CPU mode. Just the generic arcade ladder with cannon fodder opponents.

P.S. That is not even touching on the customization. The DLC for Ultimate Showdown was a huge letdown with Tekken 7🤮 crossover trash, Yakuza costumes that look like lazy cosplay (with terribly chosen soundtrack), and maybe 50% of the items from original console release.

This was a ridiculous release on many levels. They tried to push esports, but the game didn't even have rollback and wasn't even PS4 Pro enhanced. In 2021. It wasn't crossplay either. Half of my online matches were borderline unplayable.

This sounds like the version it should've been to begin with.

Virtua Fighter 5 is 18 years old. When Virtua Fighter 5 came out, Virtua Fighter 1 was 13 years old. It came out before Street Fighter 4 and Tekken 6. It's pretty crappy that they just keep re-releasing this old-ass game over and over.
I would prefer they rework Virtua Fighter 4: Final Tuned as it had better system mechanics. Even vanilla VF5 had the really amusing zero clash system where attacks and throws landing on the same few frames would cause a reset and none of the side-turned BS.

Or they should try to make a Virtua Fighter 6 that is even better.

VF4 bro, come on. That game was ported to the PS2.
The final revision of VF4 never received a console port (like the R revision of VF5) but I would definitely love a new entry with new stages and characters.

I think VF6 will have very beautiful graphics but the content will be progressive by season, for a successful launch they need a good villain, a new plot, campaign like Injustice/Mortal Kombat, it needs to have a casual atmosphere and it also needs a new hot female character.
This is essential, the other details in the gameplay I trust they won't make mistakes.

I want the VF1-VF5 formula to be left behind, I want, you know, new era new energy.

Holy hell

I was 18 when this game originally came out....bought it twice over the years not doing that again
good game but its beyond time to move on VF6 or bust!

lol what kind of singing is that? sounds like a russian drowning
Nostalgic Engrish karaoke. Most beautiful OP I have heard in fighting games since Soul Blade. 🥲

At best they will have short Yakuza styled Virtua Quest mode. They are not going to reinvent the entire franchise.

I wish they would release a compilation with each major revision. These games play so different between versions.
