Idea Factory International revealed they will publish the Idea Factory-developed visual novel Date A Live: Ren Dystopia on PC via Steam in 2024. Although the game was released on PlayStation 4 in Japan in 2020, the West will likely only see a Steam release.

The Steam release will also unveil the localization of 2 audio dramas (Natsumi Encounter and Origami Friendship) and a short novel (Ren Masques) exclusive to the Deluxe Edition. Fans can grab either the game or the Deluxe Edition with a 15% weeklong launch discount.

Date A Live: Ren Dystopia picks up the story following the events involving a new spirit, Natsumi, who becomes a target of Deus Ex Machina Industry. The protagonist, Shido, steps in to protect Natsumi from this organization, ultimately succeeding in sealing her powers. The game also revisits the transformation and inversion caused by Origami, a central character in the series, with Shido reshaping the world to safeguard it and seal Origami’s powers. Despite potential lurking threats, Shido and his friends relish the peace they’ve achieved through their struggles. However, an unusual dream and a mysterious snake-patterned container discovered under Shido’s pillow the following morning set the stage for new developments in the story.

The Date A Live series, from which this game is derived, is a popular light novel series by Fujimi Fantasia Bunko. It has been successfully adapted into a TV anime series, with the fourth installment, DATE A LIVE IV, airing in 2022. Created by Koushi Tachibana with illustrations by Tsunako, the series has enjoyed immense popularity, with over six million copies sold worldwide. The narrative begins thirty years after Earth starts experiencing spacequakes, triggered by mysterious beings known as Spirits. Shido Itsuka, an ordinary student, discovers he has the unique ability to seal the powers of these Spirits. To do so, he must date them and win their affection, leading to a series of unexpected and challenging encounters as he tries to protect the world and save the Spirits. Date A Live: Ren Dystopia continues this intriguing storyline, offering fans and newcomers alike a blend of action, romance, and fantasy.
