I was there for all of them. Good times.

In Windows 95, it really wasn't that big of a deal. Not many games ran on Windows 95 early on because it was such a different environment. But you installed the game, clicked on the EXE, it opened up a DOS window and booted the game. Pretty seamless.Very young at the time Pentium 2 1998 user here at the very tail end of the DOS goodness. I can't remember what DOS was and what the newer stuff was -- the dividing line. It's all a bit of a blur. So, practically a zoomer to this DOS stuff.
i know what people feel is the "golden age" is very much dependent on age, but anyone who says otherwise is just wrong.I remember going back to a friend's house after school in 95 to play worms on his dad's PC.
1995 - 2005 was the golden age of gaming.
Shout-out to the real ones who flipped their launch PSone upside down when it over-heated.
I remember being a total noob thinking I'd mess up the new computer but after a while got used to black screen, freezes etc. I was randomly opening apps not having a clue what they were/what they did. If those games make you feel old, then my sex life is getting dusted off with an archaeologist’s brush. I witnessed first hand this legendary flop that nearly ended the gaming industry.
100%.i know what people feel is the "golden age" is very much dependent on age, but anyone who says otherwise is just wrong. (95-05)
That's where my mind immediately went. Underwhelmed by these PC games, but the release of the NES was groundbreaking.Super Mario Bros. is turning 40 in 2025. Just dropping it here.
Give me until 2010 (the best of the HD generation) and we have a deal.I remember going back to a friend's house after school in 95 to play worms on his dad's PC.

Chrono Trigger came out in 1995. A timeless classic. I remember playing Hexen, such a fun game too. Some of other games (console) that came out that year aside of the PS1's launch...
- Battle Arena Toshinden
- Mega Man X3
- Vectorman
- MMPR: The Movie
- Mortal Kombat 3
- X-Men 2: Clone Wars
- Mega Man 7
- Final Fight 3
- Virtua Fighter 2
- Killer Instinct (SNES Port)
Off topic: Games is also good for the health and well being. I always feel young, energetic, and refresh because I love playing games.![]()
Yes those games are OG. Hopefully they make a come back this generation especially THPS. There are studies that shows gaming helps especially in brain and cognitive functions. Along with good mood and healthy glow. For me playing FPS, and even action games like Stellar blade and Bloodborne and of course RPG, adds that challenge, which gives good adrenaline rush and fun. A smile in the face that give s a good mood, challenge that gives brain exercise and talking about games to other gamers, even to the young gamers, makes me in touch with the trend in technology, which adds a youthful glow and good inspiration for me. Games never gets old with me. Even those so called old games like Half life 1-2, starcraft, warcraft, Red alert, etc, I still enjoy them. They're usually more engaging than most TV shows or films for me.
On the feeling young thing, stuff like Tony Hawk Pro Skater and the Jet Set Radio graffiti games, skateboarding, roller blades and tagging/graffiti are still cool right? Who wouldn't still feel young after playing them?
Till then:I've been waiting to replay these until a proper VR port comes out, with a fully pixellated cockpit and all. I'm sure TeemBeef or somebody will get there sooner or later.
forgot all about this one, even though I'd heard of it -- going on my wishlist for when I have time again for some PC VR (currently my VR is restricted to Batman on Quest 3, which I didn't have time to play until recently so it's still fresh with hours to go)Till then:
Thank you for reminding me how awesome gaming was back then ans how much i loved pc gaming.Anatoly Shashkin💾 (@dosnostalgic.bsky.social)

ONe saturn, one daytona usa, on steering wheel with pedals. Knight rid....lolI've felt old for years, doesn't bother me.
1995 was also very good for SNES (DKC2, Chrono Trigger, Killer Instinct, Yoshi's Island), very mid for Genesis (Vectorman, I guess?), and of course Saturn and PSX came out in USA with all that entailed.
Was about to say that as well. Crazy because I feel like they just celebrated the 35th..Super Mario Bros. is turning 40 in 2025. Just dropping it here.
I played a little of it with my Quest 2 as the VR display, and it worked pretty good. Scale was way off and I couldn't get it to feel correct. I don't have a HOTAS, just a basic stick, so it wasn't too much fun to play without being able to see the keyboard for controls.forgot all about this one, even though I'd heard of it -- going on my wishlist for when I have time again for some PC VR (currently my VR is restricted to Batman on Quest 3, which I didn't have time to play until recently so it's still fresh with hours to go)
I used to play it with an old Thrustmaster joystick. The big one with a giant metal base that needed an extra add-in card. Man I miss when PC gaming was like that.I like telling the old story about how I used to play the game Descent using just a keyboard.
Mouse look wasn't yet a normal thing to use as a game controller.
Descent needed 12 fingers and a few toes on the keyboard, but I played the hell out of that game.
I played all the 3d classics this way. Strafe lock keys are all you need, forget about a mouse. I think Doom / Dark Forces / etc is more fun with pure keyboard controls.I like telling the old story about how I used to play the game Descent using just a keyboard.

Fixed it for you.I dare anyone with no knowledge of pc adventure games in the 90s to try and complete Discworld
