Why did they leave?

So then for the next 4 years [after the 2017 release of Shadow of War] Monolith was tossing around the idea of making an original IP instead of any one of WB's copious IPs that external studios would have to pay tens of millions for. WB Games management didn't have the cojones to tell them no until the very end of that duration. When they finally did, the leadership at Monolith left in frustration, and imo, it's 40% their own fault for playing chicken with WB with such a naive notion. In hilarious irony, this cadre that was so interested in flexing their creative muscles to make original IP went to EA - to make a Black Panther game.
Edit: P Physiognomonics I'll also add that I think their new IP built around the Nemesis system and "procedural storytelling" sounds like it would've tanked the studio either by getting canned late in the game or coming out and flopping. We saw how that turned out with Watch Dogs Legion.

It's one thing to implement the Nemesis system as a gameplay conceit; trying to format a script around it is a whole other ball game.

Yep, Donaldo / Elondo as main villains confirmed.

Whoever thought this game wouldn't have been trash is delusional.

*Sigh* I'd seen some of the writers attached to this and wasn't enthused, but remained optimistic. I would've thought Zaslav, who's received a lot of undeserved blame for how WB has been the last few years, would slap down the largest excesses of this stuff - especially after Suicide Squad.

It is still a shame that Wonder Woman will not be getting a game in the forseeable future. Hopefully next time, it won't be from some ideologically captured nutbags.

Ed Boon and John Tobias should team up and buy the MK franchise from WB before WB ruins it anymore than they already have. Those two gotta be millionaires several times over by now and they could easily do it and get the franchise away from WB before they kill that one too.

Oh Oh. Turns out it was deserved. Come on guys. The Monolith that got a well deserved layoff are not the same people who made NOLF or anything decent. All that remained were activists. Lots of unemployed activists these days. I bet Bluesky is having a hard time handling the load.

Well, No sympathy for these guys. They havent made a game in like 8 years. Wonder Woman was in development for years and we saw nothing. If you cant even show any work you've done in almost a decade then you dont deserve to be in the industry.
Who the fuck are you to decide if a studio deserves to make games and be in the gaming industry. The ego on some of the people in here….. yeah.

Between consolidations and closures, I’d say it’s fewer studios, not more. Next to no risk taking and far fewer releases.
Companies shut down studios, but also open new ones. They also fire people, but also hire new ones.

Almost every main country has an association of gaming companies that track things like amount of companies of workers of that country. And year after year the number of studios and workers continues growing.

But the gaming media only shows the doom & gloom news because it gives them clicks.

As an example: in recent times Bungie got two layoffs rounds, spun-off one of their teams to place it under PS Studios and moved part of their staff to other SIE teams.

That appeared in the news, but the news didn't tell you that as of today, after all these things, Bungie has more workers than they had when signed the acquisition with Sony. Because they removed all these workers, but hired even more.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife

they said you can't disagree with gender affirmation on social media, as it is a firing offense.
How could that be legal? I mean, I guess they can fire you if they want, but they'd still have to pay compensation, no?

Firing someone for such stupid shit could be very expensive depending on how many years they've been in the company, I assume.

This game was absolutely going to be terrible. They/them thinks they had a story the "world needed to hear in these really difficult times". With the gender mafia running the show, this was going to 100% be slop.

Yeah maybe the closure was for the best.

Matty did a good video about it. I feel depressed after watching that.

Yes, Matty... let the blackpill flow through you...
These people are so loveable and kind.....good riddance cow, and i hope you never work in the game industry again

They fully deserved it.

Now what?

Aside from cancelling Batgirl Zaslav has done absolutely nothing "based" and on the contrary has pumped out plenty of DEI sludge during his tenure. I have no clue why some people suck his dick so much.

I didnt decide shit. The people who paid hundreds of millions in salary to these incompetent buffoons for 8 years were the ones who decided.

I am just not going to side with the developers every time. This time the publisher was well within their right to gut this useless excuse of a studio.
