WB Mulling BATMAN BEYOND Live Action Film - Rumour. But AWESOME Rumour.

Warner Bros., which had previously had a live-action Batman Beyond movie in development before going with Christopher Nolan's Batman reboot, is now said to be kicking around resurrecting their feature film adaptation of the animated TV series.

(In case you somehow forgot, the animated series saw an aging Bruce Wayne train his successor, 17-year-old high-school student Terry McGinnis, to protect Gotham City in the 21st century.)

Batman-on-Film claims that such a movie is back "on the table" and that it would have nothing to do with the Nolan Batman universe, which is now done for good.

What would a Batman Beyond film mean for what if any plans Warner Bros. might have for a larger DC universe on the big screen? As BoF suggests, the "'in his prime' Bruce Wayne Batman could potentially be in a team-up film, while the aged and retired Bruce Wayne Batman would be the version of the same character in the Beyond solo films. Think 'non-linear' -- same Batman, different time periods."

What do you think of a Batman Beyond live-action movie? Sound off in the Comments below!

BATMAN FUCKING BEYOND. THIS IS THE ONLY OPTION, WB. FUCKING DO IT.

Probably gonna happen if JL gets made (which looks like a lock with MoS doing well), they're going to marvel route. They're gonna want the batman from JL to be in the solo films so moviegoers don't get confused and to take advantage of the hype.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
What are they going to do about the suit?

Spandex is so last decade but Batman Beyond is all about slim and sleek, which excludes Nolan's style of batsuit.

I'd love it if the Batman is a mythic figure from the 50s/60s/70s era that went dormant and Batman Beyond version subsequently appears in modern day Gotham, which is the same time period as Man of Steel. But Gotham is still somehow a nightmarish Blade Runner esque city.

But I'd also love the non-linear storyline. We can see the future of the WB universe as well as experiencing the present.

Sounds convoluted having the same guy play a young Bruce in JL and a retired hands-off in the solo movies.

For some reason I thought whenever WB would "reboot" the Batman franchise they would just base it on the Arkham video games since that's such a huge property for their games division. But this rumor is pretty cool so I can live with a possible sci-fi Batman flick.

No David Goyer

Give this to Neil Blomkamp. I wonder if audiences will respond well to this concept though

I like the choice. The visual style would be great, I think. I love the dirty, grimy way the future looks in his movies.

Sleek power armour. Something similar to the Advanced Suit in Dead Space 2 might work. Armoured, but sleek, add in tons of other gadgets, take a Shinkawa-esque design to it.

I hope the bat family appears as they do in the comic. All these bitter old folks that have a bone to pick with Bruce are fun to read and would be even more fun to watch.

I've had this screenplay idea that is basically The Dark Knight Returns mixed with Batman Beyond. Basically you have an aging Bruce Wayne who is no longer fit to carry the mantle of Batman and retires. Like the idea of Batman existing is vague, he did his thing in Gotham for a few years but some people still think he was a rumor or legend. Then you go the Beyond route with McGinnis becoming the new Batman, but much flashier and very public. Throw in the "mutant" gang problem, and Bruce having to save Terry's ass and fighting in a huge mud pit and you got yourself a sorta reboot.

Dubious sources.

That being said, I would totally be down for this. Batman Beyond is a really cool universe and a live action film could work really well. I would love to see it happen.

I get the feeling this wont happen because Bruce Wayne is still synonymous with Batman --as he should be-- so they are going to stay shackled to the original Batman timeline until audiences are more receptive to change. I could see a Batman Beyond film running independently of Batman if the newer DC films do Man of Steel numbers. We'll see.

Oh Jesus fuck I would love this so much, Beyond was the only other cartoon that even held a candle to Batman: TAS. The only issue is part of what made it so fun was that it was a direct sequel to a previous version of "traditional" Batman. A Batman Beyond film just seems odd without a previous Batman universe to be a future of...

...BUT, still, I am very open to this, they need to find a guy who's really thin but tough looking, its an important difference between Bruce and Terry...

Also no bullshit where he's secretly his son. That shit sucked.

No just no.

Why not? Could be a cool, unique direction. I'm not saying his suit has to look like something out of Zone of the Enders, but I'd love to see a Shinkawa-esque art style in there, especially compared to the more cumbersome Nolan-suit.

It's the goddamn future.

Edit: Ah, I see. Quoted before your edit.

Well, I sure wouldn't mind seeing a Batman Beyond in the modern day, if only to see Batman compete on a more level playing field compared to Space-Jesus.

I wish Marvel and DC would have the balls to adapt some Elseworlds/What If stories as standalone films.

Imagine:
Superman: Red Son
Kingdome Come
Hulk: The End
Marvel Zombies
DC: New Frontier
I could go on forever...

Seriously Keaton makes too much sense, he's at the right age for this. Old but not that old for him to be able to suit up as Batman and get an action scene or two but have a near death experience because of he's age, like in Beyond where old Bruce had a heart attack.

They have to establish the regular versions before they start throwing the alternate world ones. Personally I would love to see Old Man Logan made into a film

That's why I like the idea of using Batman (Beyond) for Justice League films. His suit can basically be played like Iron Man, so you can give him plenty of action set pieces to take part in. You can play it small or big with him.

But Terry Mcginnis Batman is more about stealth than action.

You do stealth and detective work with a couple action beats thrown in for this solo films, and then you go crazy in the bigger team film.

I'm glad to see DC is interested is looking at getting the ball rolling with their films. They gotta get something prepped for the summer after Man of Steel 2

I think I would prefer that the Beyond films, if they indeed go that route, sort of stay separate and in a vague "the future" by a few decades.

Problem is, the whole neon-vibe of Beyond might be a turn off by people who still remember....the bad times...
