S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

Developed in the Ukraine by GSC Game World (who also brought you Heroes of Annihilated Empires and Cossacks), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is a landmark first-person shooter with RPG elements from THQ. Set in the city of Chernobyl after a fictional 2006 nuclear disaster, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a "sandbox" style game, allowing players to explore the large in-game world as they please in a non-linear fashion. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a remarkable game, and has sold over 2 million copies to date.

And he's got a rather...unique mechanism for sorting and organizing his tasty treats. With your help, his chain will soon span the coast, and America will be up to its ears in donuts -- that is, unless you drop too many.

Gametap News: Fall Cleaning Continues

Hi gang, I have a few more removals for you. As usual, most of these are being removed for performance reasons. However, Celtic Kings is being removed because of a licensing issue with its publisher, Strategy First.

The bad news is that I just found out this morning that Celtic Kings out of the catalog tomorrow. Sorry, this was a total last-minute thing.

The good news is that if there is any demand, we have licensed the same game from its European distributor, Legacy Interactive. We'll more than likely be publishing this version as soon as we can, probably sooner than later if you guys want us to. Reply here if you specifically would like this game to come back, I'm personally curious.


Is just the Nitro Pack being removed because it's the least downloaded one of the series or something?

Correct, it is in fact one of the least downloaded games on GameTap. Interstate itself isn't going away.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty No Longer Coming

Codemasters’ 2008 first-person shooter Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, a “Coming Soon” staple in the GameTap Catalog since late 2007, is being removed next week. Unfortunately the game just does not work well enough in the GameTap Player to publish. We did all that we could, but ultimately it came down to waiting for a patch from Codemasters, which never came.

C’est la vie, apologies to all of those who were waiting for the game. It was a tough decision week by week to keep the game in “Coming Soon” and hope that the fix would arrive someday, but I don’t think one is coming. If it’s any consolation, the game didn’t do so well critically.

In other, similar news, we’re removing two more games from the Coming Soon list - Freddi Fish 2: The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse and Freddi Fish 5: The Case of the Creature of Coral Cove. These games used to be available on GameTap, but a necessary update to our encryption technology made these - and a handful of others - unstable. We got the others working, but poor Freddi just couldn’t make it upstream, which is a shame because I really, really enjoy the Humongous adventure games for kids. Go try Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo if you haven’t.
