Don't worry. It'll end just in time for you to be an old man who got used to it, and you will be scared of the change when it goes back to normal. It'll be a different world that won't make sense to you, you won't recognize it.

Groundhog Day is a brilliant comedic take on Nietzsche's eternal return:

What if some day or night a demon were to steal into your loneliest loneliness and say to you: “This life as you now live and have lived it you will have to live once again and innumerable times again; and there will be nothing new in it, but every pain and every joy and every thought and sigh and everything unspeakably small or great in your life must return to you, all in the same succession and sequence — even this spider and this moonlight between the trees, and even this moment and I myself…”

Nietzsche’s demon is a question that is to be answered not in words but in the course of life. The question in each and every thing: "Do you want this again and innumerable times again?"

When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.

I only watched it for the first time in the last couple of years. Great film. I ended up looking up how long he'd been in the loop and there are many theories ranging from weeks to hundreds of years.

I wonder if it's on Netflix/Amazon at the moment. It's worth another watch.
If it was on TV I missed it, Sky used to convert one of their movie channels for the day and just show it over and over but not this year.
That's brilliant

Its been a while since I last watched it, but I remember him learning to play piano and also ice sculpting perfectly

So at least a decade, but probably more

Realisticaly, even if he eventualy ended the cycle, his mind would be broken beyond repair.

Fun movie, tho

Great movie but i hated the ending. Just another Hollywood movie where love is the answer/key/solution.

Also she hated him but he managed to make her love him, to the point of her being ok to sleep with him, in a single day? I get how his social skills maximized with repetition but yeah, she was too easy.

Love wasn't the goal. It was a byproduct. The goal was the main character's change of heart and journey from selfish narcissist to selfless helper of others.

He had already reached that personal level midway through the movie but the loop wasn't broken. It only broke when he reached the particular end point where she successfully fell for him romantically.

btw.
in the original ending she kinda rejects him after waking up thr next day, and it turns out that she has been reliving the following day in an endless loop like he did the previous one.
