What are you favorite Character Racing Games that wasn't Mario Kart?

Dragon Kart, mostly for the music.

Pretty much Diddy Kong Racing, but not really for the racing. I like it for the open hub world that it features, I might actually buy a Mario Kart if they worked on some things like that, I haven't bought one since Double Dash. Mario Kart 64 is my favorite.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is the best racer we've ever gotten. Too bad Beenox went back to being a COD-support studio. They've honestly been a fantastic studio whenever they've had a reasonable schedule and budget.

Most of them are created or anonymous, the rest are real life racers from F1 and other sports games.

That doesn't make it a Mario Kart-style game, which is what a "character racer" game is.

You also play the role of Pac-Man in the Pac-Man game, but that doesn't make it an RPG.

ModNation Racers for sure. Ahead of its time. Still don’t have a campaign, boss battles and custom karts/kart sharing in Mariokart. MK9 should at least have a real campaign with boss battles or they’re just phoning it in.

Garfield, all these games look similar to me but I like Garfield.

I loved DDK Racing and have missed a story mode like that in another Kart game, maybe MK9 will have it? I mean, it seems like it might have a big open world going by the footage.

Also I always liked the Sonic All-stars Racing Transformed way more than MK, I wish Sega insisted in the franchise, it was so good, way less randomness which was more enjoyable to me, I really need them to go back to it.

Diddy Kong Racing, the whole overworld thing they did really made it feel like a true adventure. The unlocks just kept coming, like you thought you where done and then the lighthouse turns into a rocket ship and even more tracks unlocked it just kept going.

Amazing game.

SD F-1 Grand Prix, a Japan-only Super Famicom game inspired by Super Mario Kart, isn't very well-known but it's worth checking out:
