Yeah, that is when ATI really started to come around but back then I was an Nvidia Fanboy so it was Nvidia all the time. These days it's about who has the best product for the right price.

The 5900Ultra was much better than the 5800 though which was kinda a bust.

I built my first computer in 2003 as well. Athlon XP 2600+, if I remember correctly. Paid for it with cash from my student loan. Cost me about ~$600 (converted from Indian rupees) for everything but the graphics card.

The best VFM card was the 9500. Had to import a 9500 non-pro from the US for about $200. Unlocked it to a 9700 Pro using a softmod. Such a great card.

Remember when the GeForce 4 ti4200 64mb version was a faster than the 128mb version? People used to say we don't need the extra 64mb ram back then.
