What the hell is up with Grand Theft Auto 6??

Yep, a classic

John Marston John Marston , don't hate me for cheating on you.

I think they're just giving it as much time in the oven as possible.

The stakes are high for them with GTAVI. GTAO has been huge for them and this is meant to be a successor to that more than a successor to the GTAV SP. This will be their first time launching a multiplayer focused GTA game and MP games tend to be make or break based on their launch. If they don't get it right, they not only risk this failing to meet their expectations, but losing what GTAO is currently bringing them.

There's already a zero chance for a GTA4 remaster, they're not going to release another game that will compete with 6. They want as many players focused on 6 as possible so they can make all the microtransaction money on GTA Online. No point in splitting the fanbase. I doubt we'll ever see a GTA4 remaster, but if it does happen, it won't happen in the next 10 years.
If there's still a year or so before six releases, it's possible, but of course it wouldn't include online for the very reason you're talking about.

Some people just don't want to play on PC. Simple.

It doesnt make any sense to me as a Gamer first and foremost. PC's support all controllers now, you can literally hook one up to your OLED TV and you have all the options at your disposal. I have my console for the rare exclusives but if I want to play an older game in full glory I have no problems doing that, and I'm not waiting on a publisher to resell me a game for 60 bucks

And it doesn't make any sense to me to have to fight with the game, windows and issues while the same new games, you just launch on console.... which is also 5x cheaper.
Everyone got a pc. Probably one they can launch a game on. But they still get consoles.
I have a good pc. just upgraded my cpu to 5700x3d even... but ps5 pro still kicks ass. I just prefer playing on there in recent times

We'll know in May, Zelnick will have to talk about it in T2's next earnings call.
I do wonder why they released a trailer so early to then just not show it at all for another year and a half. Even if it was delayed Rockstar is just doing us dirty at this point, roughly 500 days have gone past since that 2023 trailer was released and we haven't gotten a single screenshot, in comparison with GTA 5 around this time we already had

- First trailer
- 20 screenshots
- Second trailer
- A Game Informer magazine preview
- 9 artworks
- The initial release date, a delay and the final release date

I'm just dying to find out what made it from the leaks into the final game and what didn't, I've watched the restaurant video from the leaks so many times it ain't even funny.

Regarding the IV vs V debate, IV had a great story, Niko and Roman were great characters but the gameplay was just boring af after we were spoiled with San Andreas. Yeah sure the physics were amazing but with a 30 hour story, the game begins to get old pretty quick.
The Ballad of Gay Tony was much better in that sense, it is what vanilla IV should've been in the first place.
Then V went even further and brought many of the elements that made San Andreas' gameplay so fun and varied but the story was weaker than IV's unfortunately.
And although I'm saying this, by no means I dislike IV, I'm currently replaying it and I'm having a blast, I just understand why so many people were disappointed with it back in the day and why V was so much more popular even before GTA Online exploded in popularity with the introduction of the Heists.

When it comes to VI I do hope the story is a bit more serious like IV and RDR2 but I also hope the game has a ton of different stuff to do and a great deal of mission variety instead of just having to drive around from point A to point B, shoot some dudes and then rinse and repeat for dozens of hours until we reach the end of the story.
And I hope they revamp the driving physics as well, a mix between IV and V would be perfect imo, IV's driving was a bit too floaty but then V went way too far in the other direction and it was way too arcady. A middle ground between those two I think may be the sweet-spot.

I didn't like GTAIV, the story was boring, the characters weren't interesting, the missions sucked, and the driving was atrocious. The best thing to come out of it was they learned a lot of lessons and improved it tenfold with GTAV.

Some games need some tinkering and some don't.

I'm just saying if you want to play GTA IV in 60fps in at high resolution there are options out there and they dont have to be expensive.

Strauss Zelnick already clarified that they're looking into a short marketing cycle for the game (<6 months) from the moment they drop the second trailer up until the game's release.

Logical approach to me [for TakeTwo] would be GTAVI Trailer 2 + Info/Screens through summer, thinking late May to early June. Then that gives a good 6wks breathing room after which the marketing for Mafia: The Old Country can start in mid July followed by release in early August.

After that, another month of breathing room, then Borderlands 4 marketing early Sept with release mid to late Sept.

Then another month and the GTAVI hype cycle can go full tilt, ~10m Gameplay Demo end of Oct. Additional Info/Screens & Online Teaser in early Nov and Launch Trailer / Release in late Nov.

As for Sony, we've seen Death Stranding 2 is late June. If Ghost Of Yotei is still coming, I expect late July through to early Sept. If not then, maybe pushed into early next year. Everyone else is either already penned in for this side of Oct or will be going into next year. The exceptions being some multiplayer, annual and smaller stuff perhaps taking a shot at December.

It's cool if IV's your favorite, but pretending V isn't great is a bit much

The game is good, whether you want to admit it or not
No because the gameplay is abysmal. No challenge to be seen whatsoever. It basically plays itself like the dumb Nintendo accessibility features.

No offense, but if challenge is your main focus, GTA might not be the right fit. It's never been about punishing difficulty, it's about immersion, freedom, and unpredictable chaos. Expecting Dark Souls out of it is just setting yourself up for disappointment

Honestly they don't need any marketing, if it comes out it will sell regardless what they do.
They could just make one more trailer at the time of release and I don't think it would significantly change sales if they would release multiple trailers until launch. So why spending money on marketing that is not required at all.

I don't think you have played San Andreas or the older GTA games. Especially not 100%. There was brutal stuff in there.

I think I've played San Andreas more than you did. I think I played it more than most on this forum.

Older GTAs had some brutal missions, but that was often because of clunky controls, lack of checkpoints, and outdated design, not intentional challenge

Even if this challenge in the older titles was not intentional (which I doubt), some gamers like challenge. Getting 100% in San Andreas was a tough but ultimately rewarding experience. I don't understand why we have to defend this casualization in GTA5. The game is big enough to cater to casuals and still have some tougher challenges in the game.
