What was an update that negatively impacted your enjoyment of a game?

For NPC, it just that it indicates the position of merchant or NPCs (that haven't move) you've met.
And once they move, they disappear from the map so don't even need to go and check if they're still there.

I liked to keep track myself of where were the merchants and NPCs.

It still (hopefully) doesn't tell you where a NPC moved.

I see. I guess I just never noticed or bothered to check because at the time I stopped playing base ER all merchant and NPC locations had to be manually marked.

I may be misunderstanding, but It doesn't really seem like that big of a deal to me from what you said. You still need to remember that there once was an NPC at that location, that is now gone, right? And then you have go blindly find them in their new location? All it seems to do is save you a time wasting trip back to their old location, and give you a heads up that they might have moved, if you're especially observant/vigilant in checking your map.

Plus from my experience with Fromsoft games, if I noticed that an NPC was suddenly missing, I wouldn't necessarily think they moved. It's just as likely that I accidentally caused their offscreen death by picking up some random item or killing the next boss or in some other esoteric way.

I am nitpicking for the NPC location but it removes a bit the "figure it out by yourself" Fromsoft has cultivated since Demon's Souls.

The most annoying for me was the placing of marker to tell you where to go instead of letting your find it out after certain event.

GTA games removing licensed songs through 'updates' is the worst shit. Just leave them alone unless it's a fresh install. And even then you should have a separate build if you bought the game before the songs were removed.

The original 3D trilogy is the winner here since you can just use a PS2 and play them without any changes.

That was you?! 😛
God damn nothing infuriated me more than being instakilled by people sprinting around with those. MW2 had some buggy ass lag compensation thing where I'd constantly run around a corner and be locked into getting shot by those things and there was nothing I could do.
Best nerf ever.

Hahaha if you played the leaked/press build of the game you would be cackling at how OP these things were in the prerelease version of the game.
For some reason they had a fast fire rate, long range(for a shotgun) and if you alternated between left and right, you were a walking tank of destruction, each trigger pull was a guranteed kill and in the event your target survived one shot, the other gun was ready to fire.
If someone snuck up on you fire fight then the alternate gun was ready.
It was effectively an unlimited firerate shotgun.

In the launch build they slowed the fire rate and range so you had to fire both guns at the same time for an instakill.

The second nerf made it kinda boring to use.
And other guns were powerup enough that it was better to use other shotguns even.

P.S YOu could still glitch the range on these things by putting on FMJ.
We kept that secret so IW wouldnt nerf them.

Removing music from GTA V.

Adding level scaling in Cyberpunk.

Making the graphics look flatter in the original STALKER (they removed grass shadows).

They removed the licensed radio music from GTA 5? Shit. I was almost considering finally getting around to playing it.

I suppose there are PC patches that add it back in though, right?

Don't catch me in domination or ground war.
I'll end the match in the first two minutes if I don't like you.

In tdm I only need one other player on the team. 2 v 6 we still winning but I need someone else to be targeted at least sometimes otherwise the other team quits.

Hahaha classic CoD was something else.

This one hurts: WoW after every expansion.

Vanilla was hard. And it was interesting. With each expansion the game was becoming more and more casual friendly.

Old dungeons and raids would become obsolete. 40 man raids were no more. PVE was far less enjoyable and more hand holding-y.

Worst thing was the item level scaling gaps between expansions. Instead of having the new higher level items increase their power at the same rate, they created these massive gaps in item leveling so that a lvl 59 trash random drop in the expansion areas was almost as powerful as a vanilla 40 man raid epic that took months for someone to acquire. All the hard to get items were rendered completely useless because anyone could just get better ones by doing the first few quests in the new expansion or buy them in the AH.

Basically, what they did was to reset everything. Every player after the expansion was equal and all the stuff you got from previous raids had no value or usage (you couldn't even keep them to help you in the new dungeons as the uncommon expansion items were better).

So, i stopped playing on the official servers after the first expansion. Played a bit of Cata on private servers and that's it. But the game died after Vanilla IMO.

As someone who enjoy getting achievements/trophies the free update to cult of the lamb is a pain in the ass. Basically the game has 4 bosses, there is an achievement for defeating each boss without taking a single hit, the thing is that when you finished the game you could retry each fight to get the achievement but after the free update once you finish the game the free dlc automatically activates and transforms all bosses to an elite version of themselves.

Reminds me of Kena: Bridge of Spirits. As per usual, Kena has a trophy for beating the game on Hard. However, people quickly found out you could get to the very last point in the game on Easy, switch to Hard, finish it, and the trophy would pop.

Now, I don't blame the devs for patching this cause it was a bit of a cheat. That said, Hard mode in Kena is no cakewalk, and some people were upset they had to do it legit after the update.

Anyway, i nominate Final Fantasy XV. An update to it's multiplayer mode disrupted the trophy list for it because Square Enix decided to make the mp it's own thing, completely separate from the base game. This means that achieving 100% trophy completion for the base game is impossible if you updated the game after patch 1.28 (IIRC).
