What's the point of owing a PlayStation anymore? There are no more exclusives

Horizon -> PC
Uncharted -> PC
Spiderman -> PC
God of War -> PC
Gran Turismo -> Forza Horizon PC
Astro Bot -> LOL
Helldivers 2 -> PC
Madden -> Switch
CoD -> Mobile
Intergalactic -> DEI

PC and GamePass is the way to go.
Unoptimised games such as Dead Space, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and God of War Ragnarok (although GoW is probably OK now) along with some of the classic games (which I could emulated to be fair) are the reasons I keep my PlayStation. Gaming online with friends away from aimbots is always a bonus too and if I'm being honest I prefer the ease of use with VR on PS5 compared to PC also (when I decide to play VR).

But yeah overall I will say having a PC diminishes a lot of the PS5's appeal. A lot of the things I listed are quite minor.

Freegunners kick the goalposts around more than they do the ball.

One minute publishing software on PC is laughable and the death of a console.

The next it's a genius business decision which has no impact on console gaming at all.
It does. It devalues the console, especially if it's day one.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Bloodborne -> emulated
Gravity Rush -> on cinemas
Final Fantasy -> worse than Dragon Quest (always was)
Japan Studio -> dead and buried

Yeah Jiggly, I don't get it either. :goog_relieved:

Imo console players are like those dudes stuck in Plato's cave: happy and content, but not knowing what they are missing on.

1. Unicorn Overlord and other Vanillaware games

2. Gran Turismo 7

3. Star Ocean 5

4. Being able to stream movie rentals in 4K from streaming sites (they don't allow this on PC because they fear piracy I guess?)

These are why I keep my PS5 around. I'm hoping the Switch 2 takes care of #4 though, and it would also be nice if the Switch 2 got 4K ports of Vanillaware's games.

You're not wrong.

I respect the utility of consoles as a product and the decision to buy them. I use them as well. What I don't respect are people who buy a console and have to try and validate their decision by stating everyone who bought a PC made a mistake. People who go PC just want more games, lower prices, same or better graphics, and are adept enough not to be afraid of it. Equally embarrassing is a 4090 edgelord shitting on consoles when they have their place. Some people just want a cheapo box that plays games in exchange for a monthly fee as a lifestyle choice.

The low point of your post was Astro Bot. Best I can LOL at is the idea that it might come to PC. Which is a real mark against PS now. They teased it before the game came out. Marketing seppuku.

There are still a lot of PlayStation exclusives I want on PC. All the Team Ico games, the Fromsoft exclusives, Concrete Genie, Gravity Rush, Uncharted. Hope to get them someday.

I’m asking myself the same question. If you have a decent gaming PC then you’re not missing out on much by not owning a PS5.

I mainly kept mine for the kids since I don’t want them touching my gaming PC. Even then, they’d rather play Roblox on PC/tablet or Animal Crossing + Minecraft on Switch.

Easily the least essential and least compelling PlayStation generation so far.

I suppose because I like the fact it actually works pretty well and because I don’t really want to spend my time fretting over frame rates or squinting at spot the difference comparison screenshots.

I play and enjoy older and indie stuff on PC, but I can’t be bothered with the whole performance diminishing returns master race bull anymore.

That said I am pretty bored with lacklustre PS output of late, so am considering a modest rig upgrade.

Buy what you want. Likely there wont be much subsidisation in PS6 gen (going by ps5 pro) so prices will be closer to pc.

It really depends if you prefer rgb bling, or box shaped system or wifi router looking system.

I got my PS5 for playing PS4 games at 60 and to play third party games.

My next console for exclusives will be the next Nintendo Switch.

Plenty of reasons:

- Invested in the ecosystem.
- Prefer the simplicity of consoles.
- Love Sony 1st party & timed exclusives and don’t want to wait.
- Cheaper upfront hardware cost.
- Physical games to buy.
- Dislike Windows and/or gaming on PC.
- Online play has less of a cheating problem vs PC.

If none of the above applies, then don’t buy a PS5.

Or maybe many gamers also have a gaming PC and still like playing on consoles.
Yeah I'm sure there are many rofif rofif out there but if your PC can offer a better experience than a console then you are just missing out on lots of stuff by chosing the console.

Personal preferences aside ofc.

Sure, find me a way to transfer all my digital purchases from PSN (including 10+ years of free PSN games) to another platform and I'll consider moving.
