Wow, Crimson Sea kicks ass

First tragedy, then farce.
I had heard a bit about the game, but had never played it until CC decided to make things dirt cheap. This game really is a ton of fun.. the camera sucks until you learn to alter your gameplay around it, and the voice acting is terrible..

but the actual game is really a lot of fun.. it reminds me alot of PSO, only with better play mechanics.. I would really love a co-op online version of this that has PSO like weapons to find, and harder modes and the like..

also, GBTG is the most bland game I have played in years. Nothing particularly wrong with it, but its just so vanilla.

Chili Con Carnage!
I thought crimson sea sucked ass, the camera ruined first, then some dodgy controls ruined it, then some stupid missions ruined it more, then the voice acting just sealed the deal.

Id agree on GbtG though, aside from a few (very few) classic rare laughs its nothing other than ordinary.

Wait until you play the second one -- it's a huge improvement over the first and a game I enjoyed very much from beginning to end.

FIXED

It was barely entertaining and more of a techdemo on wave physics than anything else. I could never find anything to really draw me into the game.

I enjoy Koei games in general but I have to concur with the Crimson Sea hate. I've noticed a number of people on the board praising the sequel, though. I would like to hear why part 2 is (apparently) so much better in a bit more detail. So, any of you Crimson Sea 2 lovers care to share? Would it be worth picking up even if you didn't like the first one?

I thought it was great too until you get to the second set of missions from the ship. The shit camera and control setup, combined with the insane mission goals the game set for you and the difficulty spike that comes along with them helped kill the game for me.

edit: The voice acting however is pretty good (expecially for a Koei game) so I don't see the complaint there.

How is the second Crimson Sea? Anyone know? The trailer for it on Samurai Warriors looked pretty cool.

Unlike the original, it's actually worth checking out. Camera is better, control is better, doesn't feel like you're going overboard in a raging sea when turning, etc. It's a pretty good action/shooter game, although it does feel rather repetitive. CS2 definitely feels like PSO as an action game. You don't even need to play the original, as ALL the cinemas from the original are accessable right from the start, giving you the entire back story.

Ah you're right. Crimson Sea was indeed a better game than Blood Wake. I was totally thinking about the wrong game. Crimson Sea was still pretty bad - even as far as Koei games go (which to me are usually pretty tedius to deal with). Was kinda cool to see 'Tidus' in another game.
