So, it looks like SCU and the Lucha Brothers are going to face off to determine the first ever AEW World Tag Team Champions in my neck of the woods. I’ll be there at the Charleston, WV show to see them crown the champs. I hope we get a good show. I REALLY want to see Kenny Omega wrestle too. I wish there was some kind of card set up for the event so I’d know what to expect other than the Tag Title Finals.

See I'm torn, cause I don't hate all comedy wrestlers, some can be entertaining. I do not enjoy talented athletes doing dumb comedy because Lawls, like everything DX became in the AE....
Like I said, I love 95% of what AEW has done so far. Everything involving Marko Stunt is pure waste of time, and I understand that it was a last minute decision but still, know the room. This is something that AEW will struggle with from time to time, but after the last decade of trash WWE, and I'm not going to chase down YT videos to watch wrestling (Sorry NWA) it's the best I have, unless whatever channel Impact landed on is in my neck of the woods. The issue is, that I can see Cody and the Bucks (Cause lets not pretend Kenny has much pull as the others, he's the star, VP in name only) think they can make anything work and will try some really dumb shit (Like marko, Cody in a main event this quick, Bucks and Kenny jobbing and selling to much to green dudes) because they are hip or something.
In all, comedy wrestling can have a place, that place is near the beginning of a card, and not at the expense of the Lucha Bros.
Cornette can have good takes, but this dude always has an axe to grind. I swear he has a college ruled notebook with every wrestler who has ever slighted him. He'll probably just bitch that the Rock and Roll express weren't crowned champs cause he's still living in the feud with the Midnight express forever.

I liked DX and have no probably with comedy being in wrestling. It's the comedy wrestling that I don't like. MJF hitting the ropes like 10 times then doing some little dance as a wink to the crowd before he jumps out of the ring because 'haha wrestling is fake guyz!!'. Or Dustin bodyslamming (I don't know wrestling moves so idk if that's it) like 4 guys in a row then telling the other guy to not come at him because he needs to pretend he's out of breath like a cartoon character before he bodyslams him.

If he was nicer he wouldn't be as entertaining but then people might actually listen to him because he does have some good points. And he actually did like the whole Dippin Dots fight segment. That might be my main issue with Cornette, and that goes for Sports personalities that fester all over ESPN as well. Some of these people are actually fucking smart, but have to play a "character" to stay relevant. When Corny isn't going off on some dumb as rant I actually like to hear what he has to say, but he just has to go into character. I get it, that promoters and old schoolers think all fans are stupid and are "marks", but there are alot of fans that love wrestling and would just like to hear quality takes over hot takes.
As far as this stupid Rick and Morty thing goes, I think this is TNT forcing some cross promotion. I tuned into opening night of the nba on tnt, and they were plugging AEW fucking hard throughout the game, pretending to be wrestling fans. It was almost as bad as Fox with SD. Or....this is Cody/YB doing something stupid thinking all their fans are half retarded kids who watch Rick and Morty....

Yeah, the wrestling on NXT was much better than AEW so I watched more of that.
Is Finn Balor full time NXT again? They’re obviously trying to boost the show with some legit star power.

I hope so. He's doing bullet club shit, so hopfully this is the start of a long heel run. Balor vs. Johnny G is something i didnt know I wanted. Now that its here, holy fuck give it to me now. He was a colourful geek in WWE. Let him be a big deal in nxt.
Also i hope the Kabuki Warriors find some way to stay in nxt.
Besides some of the dark matches I havent watched any AEW. The roster has no appeal to me.

His beef with Janella is funny though. I aint Joey's biggest fan but Cornette just shits on him nonstop and I can only imagine him saying the same shit about Mick Foley before he made it big in WWE. Now don't get me wrong Janella is no Mick Foley but he also isn't the worst thing to happen in wrestling either.
NXT to me has been the better overall show for a while now, just because of the venue it comes off as more low rent than AEW. Outside of Cody it doesn't really seem like anyone knows what they are doing in AEW. Cody and his stuff has basically been the best things in AEW and I am not a Cody fan at all. But form his Dustin match, to the Spears chair shot, to the stuff with MJF and Jerhico, Cody is actually doing pro-wrestling.
Find it interesting that AEW is crowning the tag champs on TV with no plan for a PPV match while the Bucks have their match already set up for Full Gear with LAX.

The whole promotion is this weird mishmash of pro wrestling styles and it feels lesser because of it. They go from excellent Cody segments to crappy backyard wrestling. It takes me out of the shows.

Hearing great things about the most recent Devlin vs Starr match in OTT. So I’m looking forward to checking that out.
Their previous match their was great and worth watching if you get the chance.
Particularly considering they are an indy company, their video packages are really well done. Both the one in the above match and the one for the rematch are examples of that.

Cody is the least interesting thing to me on the AEW shows honestly. I tune in to see the likes of Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Jon Moxley, Pac, Hangman Page, The Lucha Brothers, etc. I don’t know how anyone can find Cody to be the best part of the shows when the wrestling being put on is killing anything WWE is doing BY FAR. It’s not some backyard wrestling indie show. I stopped watching WWE because it turned into a shitfest and AEW has actually got me back into wrestling because of the high-quality, exciting matches they have been putting on their shows. Maybe you should go back to watching Seth freakin’ Rollins for a while and see how good AEW really is in comparison.

I'm with ya there, I don't get teh Cody love. He might be outside of the other WWE castoffs in the midcard the most boring guy there. I can count on him to put on countless 3 star matches that don't make me care at all. AEW wins and losses matter and somehow beating Tye Fucking Dillinger and Goldust got him a title shot over Pac who beat Hangman and Kenny??? At least I assume they aren't dumb enough to put the belt on him so there's that to look forward to.
Honestly my biggest complaint about AEW thus far is the piss poor booking of their main event. Kenny was the hottest thing in wrestling and they book him to make others look good. Should have came in with a rocket that made Cena jealous.

Definitely not watching WWE on the regular anytime soon but I did catch some NXT on Wednesday and the wrestling there was better than anything I’ve seen on AEW. Same goes for the 3v3 tag match on Smackdown this past Friday.
Most of my exposure to AEW has been their show on TNT and I haven’t seen anything that has wowed me yet. It really does feel like an indie show with a budget. Their biggest star is Jericho, who is a legend, but he’s also old and fat. Cody is the best thing they got as far as a legitimate star at this point.

Go find any Kenny Omega NJPW match from the last three years and you’ll see your legitimate star. There’s a reason wwe wanted him bad, AEW has yet to realize what to do with him. They have that dumb push ex wwe guys at the top (Mox, PAC, Jericho, Cody). Some of the issue with Kenny is that dumb indie mentality to put over everybody. He should’ve treated like Cena/Roman, not midcard fodder.

I am not a fan of Cody and find his matches and promos pretty boring, but he is doing the most pro-wrestling stuff on AEW. He is actually building heel/face dynamics and heat, and doesn't have to rely on 50 million flips or going through barb wire etc... to do it.
His match with Dusty was universally praised, I never watched it because its Cody. The spears stuff clearly set up Spears as a heel and him as a face and got the wrestling world talking. Sure Spears was buried after that but again easy face/heel storyline. Same stuff now with his feud with Jerhico. I am not looking forward to their match which I am sure will have all the smoke and mirrors, but its being set up very traditionally with a clear cut heel and clear cut face. And we are seeing some sprinkles of MJF in there which will probably lead to a classic turn and blood feud between the two at some point.
So Cody may be the blandest in the ring in AEW, but as far as wrestling goes he is getting it right for his segments.
I like the crazy spot fests but sometimes its just to much. Last Dynamite they had PP/LB and DO/SCU back 2 back and it felt like one 40 minute match to me because they basically did flippy indy kick out of big moves the whole way through. And someone take the book away from Kenny for the womens division.

I'd have had Nyla win the title because if you are gonna have a big powerhouse you shouldn't beat them so early and they make for a good initial champion to establish the title. She's green but she still should have had a long run dominating people before finally building up someone to beat her. Riho has been doing well in the ratings though so I guess they might be on to something with her. Although I still think she's going to have a ceiling because of her limitations. Does Cornette still think Riho was the nine year old girl Omega wrestled years ago? I'd heard that he seems to think her, Riho and Hikaru Shida (which is where the "he's fucking her" aspect comes in) are all the same person.

I don't get why you would bring in a big powerhouse like Nyla and then have her lose in her first singles match to the smallest person on your roster. Nyla should have been Awesome Kong in TNA. Someone knocking her off her feet in a match should have been a big deal that was built up to, never mind actually beating her. We didn't know enough about either of them for it to really mean anything. Nyla wasn't established as the monster to be taken down and Riho struggling and working her way back up would have gotten her over so much more than her winning right away.
Ah ok I'd read someone say that but maybe they're just linking Cornette (understandably) hating the nine year old stuff to the Riho stuff.
I'm not a Joshi expert by any means, so I don't have a huge amount of knowledge about the women they have brought in. But of those they've had so far in AEW the one that's stood out the most to me has been Hikaru Shida. They obviously want Britt Baker to be a big deal for them but she doesn't seem ready yet.
