For some ungodly reason, the island mode is exclusive to the current-gen consoles. Not on PC.

2K Sports has confirmed the release date for WWE 2K25, and shared details on a number of new modes and features.

The next entry in the long-running WWE series of video games will be released on March 14, with early access starting on March 7 for owners of the Deadman Edition or Bloodline Edition of the game.

The game’s cover star is Roman Reigns, who will be the central focus of the two main new modes added in the 2K25 edition.

The main new mode this year, however, is titled The Island and gives players “the opportunity to explore and challenge other players, while vying to earn a WWE contract by impressing Roman Reigns”, according to 2K Sports.

The Island, which is exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game, has players completing quests, competing in live events and upgrading and customising their character “through multiple storyline chapters”.

Playing them is another story. I'm used to the old THQ N64 controls. These controls are so complex it turned me off.

I think thats why I haven't bought them in a very long time. I tried to play them a while ago and it didn't click. I miss Def Jam Vendetta.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous to announce the "main" new mode and just exclude the entire thing from PC.

I wonder how the Steam reviewers will handle being shafted like that?

I really enjoy the career modes etc in the last couple of these.

They're almost as good as my memory of playing Smackdown 2 on the PSX now.

I remember not liking the PS1 games at all but thats probably because I didn't own a ps1 before I played the AKI games.

Gimped pc version ironically similarly feels like we're set back 15 years dunno what 2k is smoking.
Watch them go surprised pikachu when pc reviews tear them apart and sales are in the gutter.

The game's new main mode being console exclusive is incredibly stupid, unless it's actually nothing special. If it's like NBA 2k's city, and it's missing from PC, that's a deal breaker.

If you want that you can play the garbage AEW game.

AEW game is fun for what it is, and AEW > WWE altogether.

I watch and enjoy both WWE and AEW.

WWE is still largely geared towards children.
They're desperately trying to be "cool" to people who don't watch by moving to Netflix and paying celebrities to show up at events.
The storylines go on for far too long and end up stale.
The actual wrestling is bad most of the time. Same shit over and over, yet there are still lots of botched moves and injuries.
Pacing is usually horrible. So many repeated promos and commercials. No respect for our time.
It's incredibly predictable. Very rarely does an actual "holy shit" moment happen. You can predict the outcome of most matches, even on PPVs.
Titles almost never change hands on weekly shows.
Money hungry Triple H has made the entire thing feel like a cash grab.


AEW is geared more towards adults.
The actual wrestling is impressive and fun to watch most of the time.
It's more character than story based, so they don't have to stick to the same garbage feuds for over a year.
Feels less scripted, which makes it less predictable.
The PPVs are really good. Actually worth paying for.

That's the only thing I agree with here. I don't and can't watch either one like I used to BUT:

You definitely can't say the actual wrestling is better in AEW with the amount of clowning that goes on, unless you refer to wrestling as acrobatics. Whatever stories they have really don't make sense. Explain Death Riders to me.

Matches don't make sense either. Someone could take a tombstone piledriver from the top rope, kick out in two then lose to an arm drag. That isn't impressive. Kicking out from a move that should end a match and EVERYONE does it makes it much less interesting to watch.

I wouldn't pay to watch either companies' PPV, not these days. Much like someone else said, AEW looks like late WCW, and for me TK reminds me of Herb Abrams.


Now for this new WWE game, skipping a mode on PC(which is what I primarily play) sounds stupid. It does sound like a mode I wouldn't be interested in, but the game better be cheaper then.

They haven't gone into much about mechanical changes, so I'm assuming it will play mostly the same.
