I think it was not what was shown, rather the absence of things that caused those results. The GAF post, Keighley's poll etc, they're all unanimously negative even if people are excited for individual things that were shown.

Ah, you mean those games from the two giant multiplatform publishers they bought, Bethesda and Activision? If you mean those you right, they are releasing lots of games that would be multiplatform if they hadn't bought them... Because, if they only owned the other studios they had before, seems to me that the shit would be hitting the fan.

Stupid premise in the start of the thread. The whole point is that Sony has the console base that supports game sales. People who own the console, buy games for that console.
Since most people don't need two consoles that play almost the same games, they pick one or the other. This leads to Console Waring and end up with a loser who doesn't have the console install base. Once the console base is established it is too late to revert the trend, which is why launch titles are so important. 2nd most important is a good legacy, which makes people trust your platform.

Xbox has only "had the games" in the past few months, even last year was pretty shallow overall and they have spent a lot of money just to get to a cadence that Sony started the generation with. Now Sony has had a dry period because of games being cancelled etc and I do think something is going to have to be done to cut down on production time but it's easy to see why xbox is where they are at now, the brand was never anywhere near as strong as PlayStation globally and if they aren't killing Sony in the US and UK they aren't going to be in the top 2 it's that simple.

I know Colin said that. And his source maybe right. But NOBODY on EARTH (outside of some dumb Playstation Execs) got the feeling that they believed in Concord to the same degree that they've believed in their other 1st party games (ie God of War or TLOU).
So we at GAF don't have to act like Sony legit thought Concord was the "Future of Playstation".

-GAAS cost Sony eleventy billion bucks and 1st party studios in shambles

What we do know is that in every Playstation generation it is well supported far beyond when the hardware stops being made. A bunch of the sop games are coming on ps4. When you buy a PS you are buying into a proven history of strong platform support by 1st/2nd and 3rd parties. How many games are being released for xb1? The supported lifecycle of Xbox consoles simply doesn't compete. Much shorter support cycles.

Xbox Game Studio couldn't make any worthwhile games, and couldn't sell any (because of game pass).
So they bought Activision and suddenly found out that Activision can't survive on game pass either.

Despite Sony's slower output, and I'd argue diminished quality, PS5 still has a much better exclusives library. What changed that? Multiplatform games like Cod and Indiana Jones? Avowed with its 80 Metacritic? Shitty Hellblade? My 3 favourite games last year were Silent Hill, FF VII Rebirth and Astro, none playable on Xbox.

They had a chance at launch of the Series. Covid made it impossible for Sony to take the lead right out of the gate, everyone was forced to walk rather than run. That was a massive blessing that Xbox wasted by not having Halo Infinite at a playable state for launch. Sony couldn't stock their console fast enough.
4 years later, of course it was too late to reverse course. People already bought their PlayStations. The Generation's war was already won. Xbox's insistence that a console war doesn't exist, does not change the fact that they were in a war. Their console install base fell behind and thus now this gen is lost to them. This is not new information; that had been how console wars are fought going back to Nintendo vs Sega.
If the 10 console exclusives were available at launch of the Xbox Series, Microsoft definitely would have made an impact. In a war you don't just need your weapons, you also need to be on time will your logistics. Microsoft failed at their logistics so now it is too late.
But it is NOT the same as saying "Xbox never had a chance!". Xbox would have had a chance if they were run competently by different people.

For people using polls to argue fans are not happy with playstation, you do realise that those polls are reflective of people comparing that ps5 showcase with its previous ones? The OP is comparing ps5 games with Xbox games, not ps5 games with ps4 games. I wonder what the same polls would say if you compared Xbox exclusives to ps exclusives, since that is the premise of OP's question.

Because its been Playstation with consistent 1st party games since 2009 while Xbox was struggling until they paid about 70+ billion for the likes of Ninja Theory, Bethesda, Activision and Obsidian.
So you must have had your head in the sand like alot of others until now.
Plus out the last 16 years its probably only 2023 where they havent released more than one 1st party game. 2014/2015 was also weak but still had some titles like Infamous, Bloodborne, Driveclub, LBP3, MLB, TLOU remaster, Helldivers, The Order
