Xbox is planning to offer at least 5 new exclusives across the next year

In a statement to press, Microsoft described its intent to "meet or exceed" the number of games it launched in its FY2022, which included Age of Empires IV, Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite, and Forza Horizon 5.

"Last fiscal we launched 5 new games across console, PC, and cloud. We are on track to meet or exceed that amount in the next fiscal."

One can assume that this includes Starfield, the space RPG from the creators of The Elder Scrolls and modern Fallout games. Starfield was delayed out of 2022, but is expected to launch before next summer as it undergoes extensive polishing. Redfall will most likely be another game we see before next summer too. Redfall is a 4-player co-operative vampire action game, from the creators of Dishonored and the reboot of Prey.

Beyond these two games, it falls a bit towards speculation. Highly likely candidates for other games launching between now and next summer include RPG Avowed, from the developers of Pillars of Eternity. We could also see sim racer Forza Motorsport 8 emerge too. There are other potential candidates, such as leaked Project Belfry from Stoic, or Obsidian's Pentiment.

Seriously though, I really do hope Microsoft has at least bought something big for the holidays to make up for the fact they have nothing. Last year was a great year for Gamepass as far as Day 1 stuff, this year its been really weak.

I've...had to actually...purchase games...:messenger_weary::messenger_anxious::messenger_loudly_crying:

They had a plan to release one big exclusive every 3 months several years ago, pretty much ever since they came up with game pass.

Everybody has a plan, Phil Spencer was nominated the head of MS Studios 14 years ago:

Yea the next fiscal year is going to be insane. Starfield, Redfall, Forza, Pentiment, As Dusk Fall, and whatever other surprises they have.

I've had to purchase games too but I used my MS Reawards points for Destiny 2 deluxe edition and Elden Ring. MS funded my non gamepass games too!!

Xbox, the gift that keeps on giving!

Ah yes, the "several years ago" of June 2021.

This would be more impressive if two out of those 5 supposed games were not delayed into that fiscal year

This is what I'm saying 360 era they were taking advantage of the PS3 launch being fucked up now they're in an even slower go slow than PS.
The output of game so far this gen can't even be compared, I don't think even the most hardcore Xbox fans would argue against that. It's all about future promise once again.

It also adds up, a good 2023 or 2024 doesn't wipe the previous years from existence. When their biggest selling point is their internal games day one on their service, it's baffling that they keep letting this happen.

I love FLIGHT SIMULATOR being tossed in there; why not throw in SKYRIM: AE while you're at it?

. . .as for them releasing anything: I'll believe it when I see it. Is AVOWED suddenly in such a good state that people think it could or would have released within the same "window" as STARFIELD? No way. We've see a single trailer about this game. Would be great if true as PILLARS is a far more interesting world than anything BETHESDA have come up with (the "god" lore and world affairs are fantastic - though this might not be in the same time periods of PILLARS which would be fine too). Just not seeing it.

I'd guess that Avowed is a Fall 2023 game at the latest. I'm really excited to see gameplay on Sunday.

Avowed, Wolfenstein 3, Contraband (3rd party studio, 1st party IP), all slated for a 'likely' 2023 release. Hellblade 2 also possible.

Crazy year upcoming indeed.

Last year was a good year for them. Let's see what they announce on Sunday for this year before saying it's bad. The cadence needs to be much better, that's true but Sony hasn't released anything since March and we don't have a date for GoW, their single announced game for this year. Currently, I wouldn't say 2022 is a big year for them either.

You know their next fiscal year starts in 22 days right? Not on Jan 1 2023.

Yea I definitely think Avowed is next year, but might not necessarily be next fiscal year as that ends in June I think. There's been some mixed messages from Insiders on Contraband, so I really have no expectations for when that is releasing at this point. As for Wolfenstein, I'll believe it's actually in development when they announce it. Hopefully we'll see all 3 on Sunday though.

Was is tho? It came down to Halo and Forza like always and I guess Flight Simulator that had already released for PC before. It's better then what they had in 2020 and what they seem to have in 2022 but still a long shot from what they promised.

Forza Horizon looks like a success but Halo was an embarrassment, just look at the trailer they had in 2018 and compare it to what they delivered. They talked about a 10 year plan but they didn't have a proper year one plan, with the game missing basic functionalities. Ultimately Phil Spencer has failed to deliver on his promises for almost a decade yet people still give him the benefit of the doubt, I'll never understand that.

Do you think they'll have something big besides Forza this year? I think that's very unlikely.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Redfall and Starfield were already in the same fiscal year.

MS counts fiscal from June to June. Both Redfall and Starfield were scheduled after June 2022.

Phil didn't truly have power and real control till 2018 when Terry Myerson was removed from Microsoft and Phil joined the Microsoft leadership team.

Maths is obviously not your thing. Or the people that agreed with you for that matter.

What is 12 divided by 5?

"Pretty much ever since they came up with gamepass" How the fuck were they going to do that with 6 studios?
