I have recently incorporated an indie game development company here in New Zealand! There will be an official reveal of the name soon which I will update this Patreon accordingly.

Now this isn't just "another indie studio" but one that the global industry needs more essence of, especially here in NZ.

My mission is to utilize my personable and professional skills that I've garnered over the past 5+ years in the industry, to focus on cultivating an inclusive and diverse environment for women, LGBTQ+ and POC game developers. Of course men are welcome, too! Another very important aspect of the games I want us to develop, are that they are as accessible as possible.
Games are for everyone, and representation matters.

This is either an indie initiative or another case of being an overhyped nothing.

Interesting. She’s in Wellington, my home city. That’s where Weta Digital, Weta Workshop, and Peter Jackson’s studios are based, they’re currently working on the Avatar sequels there.
There’s a suburb in the city called Miramar where they are all bunched together.

There’s also another big studio around 20 mins out from the city and another one under construction 30 mins out.

Basing a studio around hiring poc and woman feels scummy to me. Why not base your hiring off of people's merits and experience. I know if the only reason I was hired because of my skin tone or if I call myself a woman (even if I'm not) I wouldn't feel as if I earned the position.. idk call me old fashioned I suppose..

Overall a studio led by a twitch streamer really doesn't interest me at all and the messaging around how they hire definitely does not instill any confidence in them.
