"Ys X" teased info teased for July 7 issue of Weekly Famitsu

Weekly Famitsu No. 1751, releasing June 23 - though dated for July 7 - has been added to the Kadokawa online store, and the description for the upcoming issue has teased information on the next Ys title, previously confirmed to be Ys X in Falcom Magazine #122. The description in question is translated as follows:

[Feature] In celebration of the Ys franchise's 35th anniversary, we're planning to look back on and reminisce over the series' impact and history alongside some key visuals, from Ys I to Ys IX. Furthermore, an interview with Falcom's own Toshihiro Kondo, where we'll learn more about the series' next entry!?

You don't get much clearer than that! It's still up in the air exactly what sort of information Famitsu will drop, and with it still being a few weeks away it's hard to make any guesses. It's likely we won't get any major reveals while Kuro no Kiseki II: Crimson Sin is still awaiting its release in Japan, but we'll have to wait and see exactly what Falcom is ready to announce for Adol Christin's next adventure.

We reviewed Ys IX: Monstrum Nox's western release last year, with impressions of the PC release coming afterward. Needless to say, we enjoyed our time with it, so we're eagerly awaiting information about the next game as much as anyone else is.

A big thanks to Twitter user Hansuke for bringing the page to our attention, and an additional thanks to Twitter user Gu4n for the information from Falcom Magazine #122!

I really like YS Oath of felghana, hope that gets a release on modern consoles one day.

& I really like memories of celceta and origins.

Tried 8 on the switch and couldn't get into it, but it's pretty rough on the switch.

Hopefully Falcom considers Xbox in the future.

Nice, looking forward to what they do next.

I didn't like 9 nearly as much as 8 but it was still pretty solid.
It felt incomplete, I mean the map itself was not fully developped like other entries. Seemed that they were overambitious. Hopefully a port to PS5 like Ys VIII will fix the resolution and framerate issues.

More Ys is always better, it's my favourite series.

Ys 9 > in terms of gameplay mechanics and art style but Ys 8 has one of the best OSTs ever and better locales.

I enjoyed the stories equally.

Overall Ys 8 edged it for me since it was my first Ys game and that soundtrack was so good

Greatly looking forward to it.

My hope is that they'll revamp the system with the new engine they've developed for the Trails series.
Current party system were used since 7, Celceta, 8 and 9... so I think the change is due. 9 felt somewhat stale.
I don't really mind the party system or attack affinities system - but the side quests and other mini-game type things, I wish they'll do something entirely different this time around.
9 introduced verticality to the game... so it would be somewhat difficult to go back not having those abilities like going up the buildings... but I won't mind as long as the new system would introduce more interesting mechanics that would compensate that.

Was thinking whether they are going to do 5 (Kefin) remake before X - but they always pushed new system first, before making a remake. (VI was release first, then Felghana... and 7 came first then Celceta.) I guess they'll do the same thing with X - then Kefin remake.

But more Ys = better! :D

9 was excellent. Should look really nice with Falcom's new game engine. Hopefully they don't stagger the PC release.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Fuck yeah! I loved 9, but still thought 8 was a better setting and had a better premise. Either way, I'm super excited for new Ys especially since it'll run in a new engine.

YS 9's story was so garbage that halfway through I had to start mash the button to skip through it to tolerate to second-half of the game. Characters standing around exploring their feelings is garbage storytelling. 8 was tolerable at least.

It was complete fucking shit yes. Whoever decided that they should turn Ys into a really bad version of a Trails game with basically mandatory fetch quests should be shot. The filler in the final chapter (bad place to put filler btw) broke me and I started skipping all that.

I hope 10 is better but they're on thin ice.

Exactly how I feel. They should just stick with the gameplay and awesome music.
