Personally I'm encouraged by the lack of Silverstone.... Even if I'm SURE it will be in the game... Seriously the owners must be giving away licenses for free or something, it's in every single game and I never thought it was a particularly good track (way too flat).

I've been playing it forever, but they've already got it from the f1 games, wouldn't mind it being in.

Yeah it's a no brainer... And I guess the fact we have the new layout now it makes it a bit more interesting... Even if I miss the bridge corner...was so amazing.

12 of 22 locations are confirmed, I hope we have at least one other untraditional north-american track, like Mosport, Road-Atlanta, Barber, VIR or Mid-Ohio.

Yes I know they all are in iRacing but iRacing isn't a game, it's a P2F (Pay To get Frustrated)

Agree 200%! There's not enough North-America love in racing games nowadays except for the couple of big well known tracks.

Also I'd add Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Especially since they already have it from the F1 games.

Id like to see some south-america love too:

But I know that it won't happen... =/

EDIT: one badass looking and overlooked european track is the Salzburgring circuit:

TOCA Series made me fell in love with some aussie tracks and the V8 Supercars series.

I wouldn't mind Interlagos one bit.
That one I posted is the Potrero de Los Funes circuit, in Argentina.

Interlagos is great, but damn, it's ugly! In Brazil I'd choose the Santa Cruz do Sul circuit, or the Velo Cittá circuit.

And (I'm beeing biased here It's my home town) Vitória Street Circuit:

Looks like a nice place to live!

It is, I guess... D:

Didn't noticed at first, but this picture is kind of old. The place is a little different today. It's kind of a "forgotten place" (the result of beeing in the middle of Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Minas Gerais and São Paulo) but gaffers from Australia and from Cameroon might see it on the news in the next few days, since that's where their national teams will be staying for preparations for the World Cup. Australia on that anexed island on the left of the picture, and Cameroon on a hotel on the far right (not yet constructed when the pic was taken).

Seconded, wouldn't mind doing the research trip there!
As a coddies fan, that would be f* awesome, and hilarious at the same time. Here in Brazil we make jokes of Acre, a northern state in the Amazon forest that is so distant that no one knows nothing about it. People joke that that's where they build UFOs and weird stuff. But Acre is so unknown that people actually talk about it. But in Espírito Santo state (here where I live) we're in between Rio, São Paulo, Minas and Bahia, and our population is really small, so in fact, we're even more unknown than Acre. So, beeing in a big Codemasters game would be really really random (and again, F* AWESOME).

Grid Autosport has the Mont-Tremblant circuit....believe me, they know how to find tracks in the middle of nowhere haha

Lol, Canada deserves all the love it can get. Let's hope that Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is in too. Such an amazing track...

About Vitória's Street Circuit, it's not beeing used since 2007, and it's kind of short (1.7 Miles / 2.7 km), so I don't think that it is suitable to a game. But it's fast, which is good:

DIRT2 had a fictional Rally Croatia and it was amazing among the local players since it was the first (and last) time to have Croatia represented with anything in some driving game.

It would be amazing if Codemasters track crew would come for a short pre-season holiday and visit Grobnik Circuit which lays near city of Rijeka. It is amazing touring circuit that was evenhosting MotoGP in the 80's, but local community - which runs the circuit - never had funds to do a reconstruction and up the game for the post-90's regulations.

Grobnik Circuit is still maintained andused today for various small cups and it serves great for Italian supercars owners and car manufacturers that often come for trackdays and testings because the fees are significantly lower then in Italy or EU.

I drove there and track has a great configuration and rhythm, while it even has a unique characteristic: very rough pavement became legendary and Grobnik is often called a "tire eater" since it literally obliterates tires if driven recklessly.

Grobnik would be such amazing add-on ;)

Surfers always generates some fantastic racing no matter what the class. One of my favorite street circuts.

Speaking of which, I wouldn't say no to Adelaide being included.

We are small country ;-)

As they say, good things come in small packages.

That was the problem with every track/location in that game. Dirt 3 as well.
I know that feel, bro. My hype for Dirt 3 was so big that it was impossible not to feel disapointed. My thoughs back them was "they worked hard and revamped the EGO engine for Dirt 2; that's why it is a beautiful game that lacks content. With focus on real rally (Group B, YAY!) and more content, Dirt 3 will be fantastic." But them, the game came out with no serious focus on rally, and with only 7 locations (Dirt 2 had 9), my excitment melted down...

That's why I have a love/hate relationship with Codemasters. I'm a real fan of the capacity of these guys; TOCA and CMR series were fantastic, and I feel that they're not behind PD, Turn 10 or Criterion, for example, at all. But I understand that having big companies like Microsoft, Sony and EA behind your back, and big budget make things easier. And Codemasters does make an effort to remain independent, which is great (I'm looking at you, Bizarre Creations ;_; ), but I can't help it; I always expect big things from them, because I feel that they are capable to deliver. That is why I'm excited for Grid Autosport, because putting the Formula One games aside, this is the first time since 2006 that they seem to be focusing on serious motorsport. As a fan of this kind of stuff, I enjoy taking my time, competing in long championships, fighting for points, you know, the kind of thing we had with TOCA and CMR games. Grid and Dirt series felt more like Soma pills.

Two of my favorites from TOCA series. :)

On that subject, Toca 2 had some city street circuits that I used to love. I think it was in the USA, but my memory fails. Anyone remembers that?

I've been lucky enough to get my hands on the preview build last week (Thanks again Loore!).

I'm having a bit of a crazy day at work today so I won't do a giant write-up but let me just say that I love it! Basically it is exactly what people have been hoping for in this thread.

TOCA is back! I've been waiting for years for a good game on PC with an actual career progression (similar to what we get with Forza and GT on consoles). If you've played the recent F1 games you will recognize the team contracts and teammates features.

The physics are a good compromise between arcade and simulation. Nothing too hardcore but the cars feel good.

Now some Pro and Cons:

Pros:
-I love the variety of disciplines available. There's something for everybody!
-Track selection is great, some of my favorite tracks are in there, Indy, Red Bull Ring, Turkey, Mont Tremblant (seriously? Omg), Brands Hatch and Bathurst...and hopefully there's still a couple of nice surprises left!
-I LOVE the whole teammate, sponsors, team contracts concept.
-It's great to have the tuning, upgrades, practice and qualifying. Adds a layer of simulation to the game.
-Great Drifting UI
-For Fanatec Porsche wheel users, they FINALLY fixed the fucked up button mapping that Fanatec introduced on the later firmwares so now you can navigate the menus with the proper buttons on the wheel.

Cons:
-Well not really a con per se but I can't drift to save my life so in a way it's actually preventing me from doing Time Attacks (which I love). I'll just have to stay away from the Tuning category while playing my career.
-The cockpits....yeah... I get why they are like that and it's better than nothing but yeah...
-During the endurance races, right now the race stops the moment the timer gets to zero. It really should lets you finish your lap like in real life.
-The FFB could be improved a bit even if what we got right now is totally workable.
-Lack of pitstops is a bit disappointing, especially for endurance races since it adds a lot to the strategy aspect.

So yeah, overall I loved it! I can't wait to play the full game.

Shoot any questions you have and I'll try to give you an answer.

Not until the official drivers arrive (same for the Xbox One Controller)

Afraid not.

Locations we've confirmed so far:

  • Hockenheim
  • Sepang
  • San Francisco
  • Jarama
  • Yas Marina
  • Paris
  • Washington
  • Detroit - Derby Stadium
  • Brands Hatch
  • Bathurst Mount Panorama
  • Circuit Mont-Tremblant
  • Circuit of the Americas

Glad to see some Mont Tremblant love, it's an amazing circuit to drive around.

So, based on the videos posted above, can we confirm Istambul Park and Autosport Raceway (fictional track?), right? :)

EDIT: and Indianapolis (blergh :C ) and Red Bull Ring (YAY!)? Thanks Megasoum. :)

So Mont Tremblant and Autosport Circuit are the new entries, right? Can you tell us a little about Autosport Circuit? Pweeeese... :3

We're looking at doing a behind the scenes / making of over the next couple of weeks, that should explain everything.

Quick version is that the team created an oval track with a great infield. Some great racing can be had there across a number of disciplines.

Pls Codies, fix that! Please? :p

Hmm, that kind of sucks too. They could make it at least like Forza, with no mechanics and animations at all. I'd be fine with that. =/

I like the dashboard cam, reminds me of Toca Race Driver 3, but why is the cockpit view blurred out? Are the interiors just low poly like the models in Grid 2? Seems strange as GRID 1 from 6 years ago had nicely modelled interiors. I like what I've seen so far though.

With Grid 2 they decided to remove cockpit view to extract more performance/fidelity on the old consoles. It seems like in order maintain or improve on that for Autosport, they've had to stick with reduced detail on the cockpits, with a DOF effect to hide it a bit. The PC version would be able to handle better detail, but they weren't going to do that for a single version of the game (it's not coming to the new consoles).

Lots of new footage here:

Really like the presentation and overall style of the game so far.

They are blurred out for two reasons as I see it. One: it takes too much effort to create high-poly cockpits for every car; time that can be better spent elsewhere. Two: You will be focusing on the road and not the cockpit so it doesn't really matter. The blur actually helps with this.

Having played the game myself I can't say I was ever bothered with this direction. And I also ended up using the narrow perspective for optimal view so i didn't really see much of the cockpit anyways.

Québec-GAF Represent!

*internet high-five*

Now Codemaster, you need to find a way to buy the assets from the PGR4 Quebec City track and put that into your game.

We didn't have time to translate our preview yet (tonight), but I'm sure you'll still be able to appreciate our 1080p 60 videos in the meantime. Quite a whole lot of them, in fact :)

@CodiesLoore :
While playing the preview for Gamersyde I encountered a problem I already had in GRID 2 : playing with a Logitech G27 and manual gears using the H shifter and clutch causes the game to randomly putting the gear back to Neutral.

It's a common problem for G27 users in latest Codemasters games (GRID 2, DiRT 3, and now GRID Autosport) and it's something that never happen in any other games (Project Cars, Shift 2, ...).

You can find some threads on GRID 2 Steam forums as well.

The only solution is to disable the clutch or just play without H shifter.

Can you pass it to the dev team please ? Thanks :)

Also, the clutch still uses a 0/1 function so if you don't press it to at least half way the gear is not enabled.

I gotta say.. Lapping around the track in practice last night in one of the touring car and playing with the stick shift (in sequential mode) and hearing the turbo whine with every shifts felt preeeetttyyy good.
