Last year's winners included Game of the Year Grand Theft Auto V, Best Newcomer The Last of Us and Studio of the Year Naughty Dog, while Irrational Games co-founder Ken Levine picked up the long-running event's inaugural Lifetime Achievement award.

In 2014, the flagship Game of the Year category has arguably never been tighter. Device 6, Tearaway, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Dark Souls 2, Mario Kart 8 and The Wolf Among Us are just some of the 18 games shortlisted for the prestigious award.

Batman: Arkham Knight, Halo 5: Guardians, The Legend of Zelda Wii U, The Witcher 3 and Uncharted 4 are among the titles vying for the Most Wanted prize, while Blizzard, Media Molecule, Respawn and Ubisoft Montreal are among those in the running for Studio of the Year.

There'll also be a number of exclusive reveals at today's event, including The Witcher 3's opening cinematic and a new Projects Cars trailer.

Stream is now live.
Anyone know what the music was that was just playing? Sounded really cool.

EDIT: This track is awesome too.

The start time keeps getting pushed back. 3:40 > 3:50 > 4:00. I'm liking the music though so I'm not really complaining.

So they're doing an awards show when there are still two months left in the year?

Sunset Overdrive
Little Big Planet 3
Master Chief Collection
AC Unity
AC Rogue
Far Cry 4
Advanced Warfare
Dragon Age Inquisition
Smash Brothers
Bayonetta 2 (just this week)
and a ton of others

All unreleased

Audience are completely killing the atmosphere. I know Ed Byrne isn't working with the best material but give him something to work with, jesus.

Really not a fan of DLC and unfinished games winning awards.

Yeah I was just thinking that. October isn't even over yet and some of the biggest games of the year aren't out. What's the point of doing a show right now?

Edit: I actually don't know much about this particular reward show. Like they just did the visual design reward which had a combination of 2013 and 2014 games. So what's the time frame for awards in this show? Is it late 2013/September 2014?

The BAFTAs are usually the best awards show imo, although the VGAs weren't bad in 2011 and 2012.
This is the only one i really watch, i like that they are really serious with it. I tried the VGA awards but just couldn't stand them, they seem to cater to really immature people and for the most part treat gamers like idiots - plus i really don't like these mid year awards like this one.

Device 6, what the fuck? I've never even heard of that game.

Also, doing this in October is random as hell, especially when this year's heavy hitters pretty much all haven't released yet. And Black Flag [among others] is from 2013.

This is weird.

That Witcher 3 trailer was awesome. I'm guessing that was the "trail" thing they teased a bit ago?

The winners of these awards are shit though for the most part.

BF4 has been my most enjoyed MP game of the year. That said, winning awards? Hmmm. Not after that shitty launch. I had minimal trouble, but still.

Trust us Brits to make an award show look as ghetto as possible.

And have access to the entire 90's music backlog.

Edit: and also the 80's apparently.

its user voted though, i dotn think anybody expected anita sarkeesian to win

this show is weird, it seems super ghetto but somehow has a stage and live audience with a few exclusive trailers.

like an odd mix of VGX and baftas

PEWDIEPIE. ffs.

Anita Sarkeesian should've won just to ruffle the GamerGaters.

Should've been Kyle Bosman
