Yeah and the Lion King sucks because it's just Hamlet!
Disney should have just put Hamlet in theaters instead of that. And Suzanne Collins should have just written a summary of Running Man and Battle Royale.
Gah I know I'm focusing on the wrong thing in a lighthearted video.
It just made me think about all the people who bring stuff up like that who AREN'T kidding and don't realize that pretty much every new story is in some way -- often many ways -- derivative.

Well if you want to split hairs The Hunger Games is more of a mix of The Long Walk and Battle Royale. The Running Man is more or less Series 7 (and needs to be remade. Fuck the Arnold movie).
I always thought Hunger Games took most of it's stuff from Battle Royale more than anything. Eh.

Edit: Actually yeah, looking it up, the novel is actually pretty similar to the Hunger Games in premise, setting, everything. I only saw the movie so that's where my comparison came from for the most part.

My problem with The Hunger Games isn't that it's a Running Man clone, it's that it's really not particularly good. The setting is whack, and the writing is generally subpar.

Man, fuck today's lowest common denominator mass-marketed blockbusters that target 13 year olds. It's the low-risk, high-production-value "AAA" movie market that has been killing Hollywood for years. Give me the ridiculous, surreal, over-the-top Rated R movies of the 80s and 90s any day over this Hunger Games and Comic Book Movie adaptions tripe.

Its funny especially because the actual Running Man book isn't even about him being shot into an arena where a variety of colorful foes try and murder him, its about him literally being on the run through the world while the police and various agents of the TV company hunt him down
