I'm probably gonna try to be as solo as possible in my first playthrough, unless bullshit(Hype) happens.

Same. I try to do my first playthrough solo, though I plan on helping others plenty. I don't usually try co-op until NG+.

We'll see how the game balances co-op. Dark Souls II's DLC was balanced in such a way that it all but required you to summon help unless you were exceptionally skilled. Frustrating for people gunning for a solo run.

So for those that know, what stats should I focus on for the coolest weapons. I enjoy fast paced combat, what should I be focusing on.

Skill and endurance most likely. Skill is like the Dexterity of this game, and endurance will give you more stamina so you can dodge more often.

Pros and cons of the starting weapons?

I watched a bit of streamage the other day- but only the early game -- I saw all three weapons.

here's my impression based on seeing them and not actually playing:

axe: slower/heavier, probably str based
cane: faster and doesn't hit hard, skill based, the whip mode has pretty big AOE reach. it seems to be a less effective weapon against bosses, but that could just have been a player skill issue.
saw blade: fast versatile weapon, probably the most accessible of the three. not sure if str or skill based. probably both.

Answering this because why not.

Honestly I'm undecided as to my gender until I see the respective customization options for both. If male my hunter will be named Kresnik, if female she will be named Lemuria.

If male I'm favoring strength and choosing the Huntsman's Axe, if female I'm favoring skill and choosing the Threaded Cane. I'm saving considering for Bloodtinge, Arcane, etc. for later playthroughs when I understand the game's systems better.
