Where was I port begging? Somebody was asking for a sequel that would have been exclusive and I said we shouldn't ask for more exclusives. I'd rather see FROM freed up to do something multiplatform rather than focusing more effort on exclusives. I thought people would have generally agreed that the more people who get to play FROM's games, especially from the so-called 'A team', the better, but I guess not.

If I want your milkshake and I keep complaining that your milkshake is not in my hands, I'm indirectly asking for your milkshake.

Yeah I dont see you complain about StarCitizen not coming to consoles or Sunset Overdrive not coming to PS4 and Insomniac needs to be freed etc etc.. Stop with the pretence. It is port begging period.

Great reviews! But I am more happy reading about the mechanics and content than paying attention to the scores.

I don't believe that for a second, sorry.

Sony asked for a new ip specifically and it is a joint effort with a Sony studio. To me, it seems there is not much doubt about it.

Lately I am hearing Bloodborne, bloodborne, bloodborne, bloodborne, bloodborne. This is maybe the biggest game that was hyped by Gaf in history (not saying this in a bad way), but it reminds me of the Metal Gear Sons of liberty days on gamefaqs, where everyone was making a thread for that game before release. I am getting the same feeling with Bloodborne now. People making threads of buying a PS4 is worth for Bloodborne, stuff like that. Never expected that From Soft got this big, in 2001 they were so niche. Time changes.

I remeber the time when GAF was ridiculing the game footage of the Demon's Souls when it was still not released, if anyone has link to that thread it would be a fun read. :)

I can quote myself there. "Demon's Souls animations look terrible. Notice how the characters default to the resting animations. Also look at the gameplay it looks like another Japanese hack and slash."

After playing the game I regretted every fucking ill word I spoke of it. There is something magical about the souls games.
Depressing to think that Demon's Souls is now over 6 years old.

I think it would be awesome if those games went multiplatform, though. I certainly wouldn't sit here and disagree if somebody hoped that Insomniac's next game was multiplatform, ya know? I'm not the sort who takes pride in my platform of choice having exclusives that other people cant play.

And again, I'm not port begging. I neither said nor implied anything about hoping Bloodborne to come to other systems. My comment was in reference to a completely hypothetical exclusive sequel.

It is a Sony IP. Why do you think it makes sense to think that this hypothetical sequel will be multiplat? Is it not obvious that the guys who funded the IP and own the IP will fund the sequel to that IP? If you do not want the next From Title to be exclusive then there will not be a sequel to Bloodborne in any shape or form. It is not a question of taking pride. No one gives a shit if its exclusive. However the business dictates that a sequel cannot happen unless it is exclusive. Also From already has two exclusive deals with Sony so they are locked in that deal as well.

I've got this milkshake pre-ordered and already shipped, but exclusives are still stupid, in principle.

On a more relevant note, i wonder if with the success of Bloodborne, Miyazaki is forever tied to this genre now.
FROM has now to continue Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and whatever other spin off people request of them, is always gonna be a spin off of these games (Cyber Souls or whatever).

It did look pretty janky, to be fair.

I think its easier to look at a Souls game now and realize there is brilliance behind it. We just didn't know back then.

Yup, i skipped the demon's souls, because the animations looked silly.
Now it's probably my favorite Soul game (sort of tied with Dark 1 on some things).

I agree in some cases. But Bloodborne doesn't fall in the horribly bad and stupid box to me. That box is exclusive (sorry for the pun) to games that in development or announced for all systems and then drank up by a company to claim an exclusive. They drink it up! Those are the ones I can't stand.

I can name several great exclusives that are from 3rd party companies for every platform that I love and understand their exclusivity. PC was my home, and still is for several reasons, and there's no end to exclusives that I've grown up with. Some of my favorite games are PC-exclusive including the recently re-released Outlaws.

I'm not saying I want Bloodborne or its sequel to be multiplatform. I'd just prefer FROM to focus their future efforts into multiplatform releases rather than exclusives. They aren't in such financial straits that they cant make games without external funding, ya know? The funding came in to lock them into an exclusive contract, not because Sony just wanted to be good guys and help them make a game. Lets not be naïve here. I mean, FROM are obviously free to do what they want and it will always be hard to turn away somebody offering to pay the bills, but I'd like a better effort with the next Dark Souls or whatever other game they choose to do. I enjoyed DS2 but it was clearly a bit uninspired and probably didn't get the attention it needed.

Hope that clears up what I was saying. I'm trying not to keep this off-topic talk going.

Your lack of port begging in sunset overdrive or star citizens threads belie attempt's to portray your self as even handed champion of multi plats.

Those reviews. Jesus christ.. I wasn't interested that much, but now I somehow really really want this game right now. Even though I know it'll kick my ass.

Unfortunately I promised myself to not buy any more games until I finally get a job. Being unemployed with a fucking master's degree in your pocket really sucks :(

Don't exclusives make for better games though? Locked into one eco-system and onto one piece of hardware makes it more streamlined and easier to make than multiple platforms, means less time ironing out differences and more time on the game, right?

Serious question.

Examples : Halo, Gears, Uncharted, TLOU, Alan Wake, Condemned etc etc

I'd rather see From making the games they want even if they are exclusive to one platform and Sony looks like a good partner to them with not interfering with their vision. Sony did the right move and it paid off by having an excellent exclusive game on their library, simple as that.

Seeing games like Bloodborne,TW101 & Bayonetta 2 (or the upcoming Scalebound) being funded by the big 3 in this day and age is a miracle at least for me and my gaming tastes. I just want to play more games like the above and I don't give a fuck on which platform they are on, people who are limiting their options in gaming by sticking to a single platform should accept that not all games will be available to them.

Being an exclusive is in no way a guarantee of quality. There are countless examples.

No doubt there are many exclusive games, and that's why we buy systems, what i'm getting at, is that although they are an obvious reality of business (they make sense from a platform holder's perspective) they have zero value from a consumer perspective.

X game being or not exclusive adds nothing to your gaming experience, unless you get off to the idea that some people won't be able to play it, which is childish and pathetic, of course.

Anyway, i'll stop with this detour.

No game has a garuntee of quality, but is a good exclusive, better than a good multiplat?

Like, does it benefit the developer and the game, to be exclusive over multiplat?

Would bloodbourne 2 suffer going multiplat?

(Sorry to go off topic)

Great reviews, didn't expect it as high as this but still 90+.
Can't wait to get my copy and enjoy it despite any flaws it might have (loading, difficulty, etc). Obviously a Goty contender since its announcement.

Just to be sure, you weren't happy when Final Fantasy jumped ship from Nintendo right?

How is the difficulty a fault?

while true, that comes down to concept and execution.

All things being equal, having to develop a game for a single platform means the game is going to run better vs. a multiplatform title. Ps3 exclusives tended to hit a higher technical bar than PS3 multiplatform titles by a fairly wide margin.

For an old school gamer with two kids and can only play a few hours a night and has never played a Souls game , is this save system going to cripple me... Will I play a few hours a night and have to turn off my system without saving any progress ? I really want to play this but I don't want to waste my money either if it's save system is sparse
