Pundits have been clamoring for more than "build a wall", so here it is. Trump says his platform rests on 3 main tenets:

1. A nation without borders is not a nation. There must be a wall across the southern border.

2. A nation without laws is not a nation. Laws passed in accordance with our Constitutional system of government must be enforced.

3. A nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation. Any immigration plan must improve jobs, wages and security for all Americans.

Make Mexico Pay For The Wall

In short, the Mexican government has taken the United States to the cleaners. They are responsible for this problem, and they must help pay to clean it up.

Mexico must pay for the wall and, until they do, the United States will, among other things: impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages; increase fees on all temporary visas issued to Mexican CEOs and diplomats (and if necessary cancel them); increase fees on all border crossing cards – of which we issue about 1 million to Mexican nationals each year (a major source of visa overstays); increase fees on all NAFTA worker visas from Mexico (another major source of overstays); and increase fees at ports of entry to the United States from Mexico [Tariffs and foreign aid cuts are also options]. We will not be taken advantage of anymore.

Mandatory return of all criminal aliens.

The Obama Administration has released 76,000 aliens from its custody with criminal convictions since 2013 alone. All criminal aliens must be returned to their home countries, a process which can be aided by canceling any visas to foreign countries which will not accept their own criminals, and making it a separate and additional crime to commit an offense while here illegally.

Nationwide e-verify.

This simple measure will protect jobs for unemployed Americans.

Detention—not catch-and-release.

Illegal aliens apprehended crossing the border must be detained until they are sent home, no more catch-and-release.

End birthright citizenship.

This remains the biggest magnet for illegal immigration. By a 2:1 margin, voters say it’s the wrong policy, including Harry Reid who said “no sane country” would give automatic citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants.

Requirement to hire American workers first.

Too many visas, like the H-1B, have no such requirement. In the year 2015, with 92 million Americans outside the workforce and incomes collapsing, we need to companies to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed. Petitions for workers should be mailed to the unemployment office, not USCIS.

Defund sanctuary cities.

Cut-off federal grants to any city which refuses to cooperate with federal law enforcement.

I don't see how any of that will encourage Mexico to build the wall. The only thing that will accomplish is preventing people from immigrating in a legal matter, which would likely ultimately lead to more illegal immigration.

I can see a lot of Americans being quietly in favor of this one too: End birthright citizenship. I remember the Boston Legal episode it was brought up.

Requirement to hire American workers first is something I like the idea of.

This is going to be part of the primary frame and point of resonance hes going to focus his immigration plan on. It's all about supporting Americans and American jobs. He'll say it will lead us to having the money to support all Americans and lots of programs to help Americans...Hes going to gain steam with this..watch. :)

I don't support Trump at all, but..

I am actually OK with sending the bill every time someone gets deported to Mexico. Not just there though -- every country that gets someone that was deported should pay the costs. The whole wall thing is pretty bullshit though. Mexico or any other country shouldn't have to build anything, but paying the cost of deportation seems fair to me.

I'm actually in favor of the H1B portion and wish candidates from both parties would take this stance. The abuse of H1B visas is out of control.

Enforce the Constitution, as long as we like that version of the Constitution – GOP.

unless the definition of birth is somewhere in the constitution already

Lets say hes Pres and puts the Mexican government in a hard spot because hes putting pressure and restrictions on them in the ways hes outlines and perhaps moreso. What do you think they will do when they start feeling that pressure/burden?

Even Glenn Beck, who treats the Constitution as holy as the Bible, wants this part repealed. The rationale is that it was made for slaves emancipated after the Civil War, and thus we don't need it anymore.

That's Mexico's problem.

The government doesn't allow a citizen to defend themselves. If you get assaulted, or if someone comes into your home and you defend yourself, you're the one on the hook for harming the assailant.

The laws as they are right now actually encourage people to join the cartels and get a hold of guns by any means.

Yeah, and right to bear arms was created when guns were kind of shit, so how does he feel about that?
 
paying illegal immigrants slave wages is not an acceptable solution either

I whole heartily agree with this too, I'm criticizing the idea that immigrants are stealing jerbs. Even with decent wages, I doubt many Americans will be lining up to work in the fields. Not all these jobs pay shit wages, but they do usually demand intense labor, long hours and 6+ days of work per week.
 
I dearly hope Trump buys his way to a victory in the primaries just so we can witness the GOP having to serve him up to the Democrats while putting on their best stoic faces.
