So what can you lose on a FOB? I'm afraid of losing all my A+ ranked guys to an invasion but the game won't shut up about it if I go online now. I figure I'll have to suck it up eventually if I'm going to rank stuff up to level 50 though.

Lose guys and resources. If you get enough A+ or better guys I'm pretty sure can get to 50 without needing FOB stuff.

If you press I think L2 on a soldier you can lock them (you'll see a padlock appear) so they cannot be taken, but this stops them being used in dispatch missions and such. Also I think they can still be killed, just not extracted.

Had 200 staff in the waiting room so decided to login with no fear of losing staff and bam, actually won 3 invasions without me not being there. Level 30 security and the IR sensors doing work.

Added drones, cameras and anti-theft devices so in 18 minutes, I should be difficult to invade.

wow people moan a lot about the boss fights in this game, if he does the ohko move you hide behind a wall.
you literally just stay behind the wall till the phase is over.
The ohko move has such a long and clear tell, if you get hit by it, it's your own fault

Seriously, his super-duper powerful move is ridiculously telegraphed. People will always blame the game, however.

Also, the single free FOB is worth it for expanding the amount of staff members you can have, as well as the amount of combat deployments available.

Also, why the fuck do I need to accept terms and conditions every goddamn time I start up the game.

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
Can you equip your chopper with tranq ammo? Instead of killing everyone when you call in support?

Hrm, I wish there was just a way to ignore it now. But I can't go online to get the bonuses without it forcing me to play a tutorial (which I assume activates FOB invasions), so I'm kind of stuck.

I beat the Sahelanthropus on my second attempt and I never once got hit by any OHKO move because I kept, intentionally, trying to stay well out of its way and hide behind rocks to avoid being hit anyway.

I did figure this out eventually, but still. When I hadn't figured out the way to do most of the damage and spent a ton of time getting to that point the first few times I was furious.
I still managed to S Rank the mission, but it was a hell of a gank before I realized you can just hide.
The fight as a whole was fantastic though.

Okay, that's enough.

Anyone knows what's up with side ops? Some of them get checked out after being finished but they won't be grayed out and will still be shown on map, so it's really annoying that I find myself finishing the old ones over and over again.

Sorry, but is Mission 6 bugged?
Because there's no way I can S rank it.

I did:
-no checkpoints used
-no kills
-no alerts
17 minutes completition
-no missiles used
-2 hit taken

116000 points, A rank.

I tried three times, can't get an S rank. Than I saw this:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/718564-metal-gear-solid-v-the-phantom-pain/72434723

People took 50 minutes, got a S rank.
Other took 2 hours, got A rank.

I think there's something wrong in this mission, maybe online mode interfer with the score?

The tutorial is you attacking your own base. I think if you don't set up a FOB you might be ok, since you got to select where you want it, but don't quote me on that.

if it's checked it's complete, some side ops light up again so you can redo them for more GMP or for another recruit.

I think the game keeps a few side ops open just in case you're stuck and want some GMP or other resources. I'm not sure though.

What was the OHKO move in the fight? I got killed only once and that was due to sustained attacks.
incredibly telegraphed missile laser thing. Like others have said you just have to hide, but it will probably catch you but surprise the first time.

Couple of things that annoy me

- Almost impossible to headshot someone in 3rd person

- The spread on the automatic weapons is insane, after 2 bullets they fly everywhere but where you are aiming

- That driving model.. :')

if it's anything like in peace walker then it shouldn't matter if they die under your control during a mission

She's so cool!

Lady I play as looks similar and has the same skill. :)

Do the vehicles you fulton appear anywhere on mother base? I only just unlocked that feature and I'm looking forward to building my collection.

I haven't had a problem with any of these. The spread is great, it improves if you're prone. I hate it when games have a tiny amount of recoil.

Yeah I thought that might be the case. I wish they at least would give you the ability to disable them from showing up on the map. *sigh*

Anyway, thanks for answering :)

The tutorial comes after building a FOB, and if you go online, the moment you go into the menu it forces you to start the tutorial to attack your own base. I just assumed security staff was at risk for FOBs, not an entire section's staff... that just seems extreme.

You know, I adore this game's story but one thing I'm kind of "ehhhh" about is that they basically don't touch on the whole Ahab/Ishmael thing at all aside from the intro, and while I know they'll probably solve this before the game is over, going through the entirety of part 1 without even mentioning the mysterious dude from the hospital. Feels a little...off.

When does it happen?
When he jumps on the cliffs and starts charging? I just shot a couple rockets his way and he came back. Or the rocket pods? I shot them out of the air with my rifle.

Woah, 130k are a LOT of points. Only thing I can do is turning off Reflex mode, I have no other ideas (I don't like playing with video, but thanks, at least now I know how many points I need).

Time taken has the biggest effect on your score.

Also the method for mission 16 where you just take a horse around back, get close to the truck, fulton it after the cutscene, then ride your horse out of the hot zone is ridiculously good. Ended up getting a no trace bonus, and about 300,000 points.

So I just got "tipped" about something regarding quiet, if someone knows what I'm talking about, read the spoilers below, I kinda need help with that.

Someone told me that Quiet leaves permanently unless you do something to prevent her from leaving, so can anyone give me the heads up in a spoiler-free way? I don't want to Google it or I might stumble on spoilers

Please avoid any spoilers past mission
16
.

if you do it, you deprive yourself of the best part of the story.
well it's not like that's saying much, but still it's an very important scene.

Mission 6, not 16 ;)
Anyway I opened the video link, didn't know about that anti-air radar thing, that retty much lower the difficulty of this mission to dumb easy, since you don't need to do anymore 1 km or more to reach the location you need.

Holy shit, there are extra actions?!

Yeah, that's the stupid thing. You'd figure it would be a command to point at a base L2 (or L1) "Codec" her with "scout this base" or "cover me in this base" and her setting up at a good vantage point.

But noooooo, you have to micromanage with the iDroid.

The other annoying thing is you can't tell which angle she's going to cover from from the sniper spots that are shown on the iDroid. If I could figure out where she's going to aim, it'd be muuuch easier to command her around the maps to set up for the best cover fire and then sneak around.

I wouldn´t have a problem with
quiet
leaving if it would still be possible to use that buddy in the missions up to that point but that doesn´t seem possible which doesn´t make sense and is bad design.

Guys please be careful talking about chapter 2/end game missions stuff.

Some of us are taking our time with the game, and others have just started. Talking about Quiet is okay since she is relatively early on and is featured in trailers - but keep anything post mission 15-20 and onwards in spoiler tags.

kthx.

Even then he's forced to make an F.O.B. even if he has no intention to use it to get the Konami bonuses. The tutorial won't stop until you make an F.O.B. and then do the tutorial invasion. If you have no intention of using that mode, you're still forced to "participate" in building a base someone can invade online.

Yes, it's royally stupid they FORCE you into what should a completely optional and switch on/off (people that don't mind being invaded while "offline" can leave the switch on) mode.

One of these days Konami From Software and others that copy that stupid invasion bullshit will get it right and let people that want that gameplay turn it on and the rest that want to enjoy the game without have to worry about bullshit can leave it off. Those that want to test around can toggle it on/off as they please.

Is there any way to go on an occasional killing/mayhem rampage in this and NOT have the game record your stats and go back to the stat/point before you went all guns blazing ?

Similar to how in GTA you can go crazy then just load your save and all your stats are back to how they were with all thee kills wiped off.

I am trying to play this game with a low number or no kills but I do fancy just cutting loose in free roam sometimes but I don't want it saving all the kills to the stats in 'Play Records'

Has anyone got the same philosophy or using a similar play style and can offer a solution ?

Thanks

wow, there's some serious issues with a chapter 2 cutscene causing the fox engine to go haywire. Thankfully it doesn't seem to crash anything.
