Square Enix asks fans about if Persona 5/FF15 were out at same time, release hint?

Posts like these show how big of a perception problem SE has. They just assume they are going to screw everything up.

2016 will be a big year for SE.

Post like this is why Square Enix keeps screwing up. Gamers have given the company a lot of benefit of the doubt. You reap what you sow.

People treat Square Enix like EA, or worse yet Capcom/Konami when in reality they haven't really made that many bad games. You should play FFXIV if you ever liked the classic FF games.

I played XIV for a few weeks but didn't like it because it was an MMO. It's the only one I've ever tried.

I didnt even say it was going to be good or bad. I just said it was going to be huge.

It will either confirm thier status as a screw up or show people that rheyve turned it around.

You should try playing it as more of a single player, story focused game that just so happens to be an MMO too. The story is basically a new take on 1-6/9/12 style FF games. The endgame stuff is really fun too, and worth getting to 60 for, but I wouldn't say it's essential to enjoy the game. MMOs can be annoying and competitive but if you find the right Free Company it really is just an online Final Fantasy. And a great one.

Maybe if I lie to them they will release to poor sales and start making good Final Fantasys again

i don't get this, each ff doesn't really have anything to do each other. You can just try the new one

Each FF is completely something new... but they've been trending towards the bad for awhile, in my opinion

I'd get both, but Persona 5 is getting all of my gaming time when it releases. FF would have to sit on the shelf and wait for it's turn.

Seriously is FF XV targeted more for JRPG fans or WRPG fans? I feel like SE should be more aware of WRPG if they wanted to move the date away from P5.

Persona 5 is going to be a dramatically better game, but FF will still be good, and sell millions more copies. Square Enix has nothing to be afraid of (outside of review scores making it easier to compare the games' quality) with releasing near P5, though it'd be nice for P5 to get its own chance to shine and sell without FF looming in the distance.

Why would they release it on the same day?

There are 52 Tuesdays in the year, why go against another massively anticipated game?

Played XIV. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It's their decision making that has been bad as of late. I look forward to playing XV, but I'm keeping myself from getting hyped.

Also, why would they release it side by side with p5? It's like they're provoking people.

We all know which one is going to get the highest critical acclaim just as much as we all know which one is going to sell more in the West xD

In the absolutely unlikely scenario of getting both FFXV and Persona 5 to release at the same time (I live in Europe xD) I'd buy FFXV, because I've been waiting for it since it was Versus, then I stopped waiting for Versus because it became something else and started waiting for XV, and I've been doing so for years now lol.

I have also been waiting for Persona 5 for years after all the delays but FF is higher in my priority chart.

Core jRPG fans will most likely choose P5.

But the mainstream will definitely choose FFXV over P5.

I would play both, but FFXV first.

SE, this is your own fault for taking so long :p

Well I guess if there's been and 80%+ sales potential decrease for Final Fantasy...

How do you expect this one to sell in this day in age? XV, I mean?

I don't think the "spin-off" status of XIII-2 and LR carries as much weight as some people suggest and Type-0 through in a XV demo and really no one showed up for that.

They can't be expecting FFXIII sales again just because this is XV, can they?

Big enough to outsell FFXV? No way. Big enough to hold it's own and show growth for Persona? Probably. Besides it'll probably be closer to (if not below) 50% in Japan where this poll is for.

Not that I understand why there seems to be nitpicking and a rivalry between the games in this thread. I'd assume there's a large degree of overlap between the two.

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
Absolutely, Persona 5. I hope SE sees the results of people on GAF so far and realize there's still a large market for turn-based RPGs on consoles. And then goes down that route with 16 ;)

Persona 5. It is going to be a much better game than FFXV, I'm sure of it.

I'm sure both will be fine games by their own merits. I don't understand why this has to be a contest. Again, it would be best for both games to be released at different times in order to maximize both game's sale potential. There is no need to pettily drive by post X game is better because blah blah.

My biggest fear with P5 will be that it's just P3/P4 with better dungeons, but if you are telling me all you want out of P5 is an HD P3/P4 with better dungeons, then I don't think I would call it a better game. 8 years spent waiting just to play a better looking modern era Persona game.

FFXV, by the very nature of the Final Fantasy series will be divisive, some will claim it's the greatest game, the greatest FF game, the worst game, or the worst FF game. At least it's shaking things up with the mainline series.

I was making fun of how improbable it would be.

We're comparing a series where the last game shipped 7.5 million copies to one that shipped 1 million copies.

I expect 4-5 million with maybe an upside of 6 million. It just doesn't look immediately compelling enough to have a major step change in the West and Japan is going to be hampered heavily by the PS4.

Square Enix wants it to be the best selling one ever (so over 11 million).

I'd be surprised if they've lost enough brand value to go below 4 million.

P5 for sure, but fuck it give me FFXV ASAP square. With XV looking much much more likely to have a WW release, we'd get it before P5 anyways.

Do it Square.

If it doesn't have directly controllable party members, I don't care. It won't be classic FF for me without that.

Oh I knew you were messing around. Nor was I addressing the latter part of my post at you either. Just seen a lot weird posts in this thread and yours just happened to be on screen when I decided to say something.

And I'd be shocked if they got near 6 million. Unless the game just blows me and other people away and has extremely good word of mouth that is.

If my numbers seem a bit high, I'm mentally adjusting for this being the only numbered Final Fantasy this generation and thus having a very long shelf life at low prices.

That and Tabata pretty much confirmed a late PC port at GamesCom so that's got to add a decent number over quite a few years.

I'd easily choose Persona 5 over FFXV in a heartbeat.

I'm going to take a full week of work off for Persona 5.

It's nice that they're aware of this though. Also cool that Persona 5 is a big enough deal that they even have to ask that question.
