Microsoft is considering increasing the price of Game Pass Ultimate again. It's also had internal debates on whether to put new Call of Duty releases on Game Pass

"Hellblade II is another game that Microsoft has been considering for the PS5"

Man it's just win after win with Microsoft lately, huh?

I've done 6 years of the $1 upgrade deal and i'm good after the second 3 year chunk runs out. They almost never add anything i actually want to play, though that may be at partially due to the state of modern games in general.

Funny how a company as sucessful as Microsoft can botch economics 101 so spectacularly, almost as if there was some ulterior motive all along.

Going to sub for hellblade 2 and lords of the fallen to see the UE5 features. Even if its $20 on PC, it would be a good deal. Anything more and im out.

There really isn't a choice to them, the price must continue to go up if the service is to continue to exist as it does or something else must change.

They hoped the rest of the industry would follow them down this unsustainable loss-leader path, which would effectively bankrupt both Sony and Nintendo ( and even Valve if they got involved).

But everybody else just sat back and left them to execute on their stupidity alone and this is the result.

Well not really though. Sony are just a couple of years behind. We now have Sony games on pc and Sony have their ps pass or whatever it's called. Next stop day one on pc.

Being a "couple of years" behind is hopefully giving Sony plenty of perspective on what not to do.

"Microsoft's gaming business isn't growing without Activision Blizzard right now "
"Microsoft's latest earnings showed that Xbox content and services, which includes Game Pass, would have only been up a single percent without Activision Blizzard"
"overall gaming revenue would have declined without this giant acquisition"

PS+ isn't the same as game pass though. Sony is good at copying the stuff that MS does that works while avoiding their mistakes.

Makes sense. We know the service isn't growing so the only logical way to make the money they need (which is obviously more than before they bought *an entire publisher*) is to increase the price and just hope you don't lose too many subscribers.

Microsoft will be banking on some new game announcements lifting the Doom around Xbox. But the company's gaming strategy still looks unclear — and the challenges run deeper than a handful of holiday launches.

Doom italicized in the article, hinting at a Doom game announcement at the showcase 🤔

Phase 1: Introduce a service that teaches your userbase to not purchase games.
Phase 2: Raise prices of said service.
Phase 3: Rename another subscription service to inflate the stagnated growth numbers of said service.
Phase 4: Raise prices of said service again.
Phase 5: Steal underpants
Phase 6: ???
Phase 7: Profit

Man, you guys are just delusional. lol

- Sony didn't spend nearly 80 billion dollars on two major acquisitions.
- Sony's consoles aren't flopping at around 25 million sold with only 800k shipped within the past quarter.
- Sony is not dropping their biggest games day 1 on PlayStation Plus and losing millions of revenue

Microsoft has been putting games regularly on PC for about 8 years now and they're struggling.

Sony doesn't have nearly the same problems as Microsoft. Sony console is successful and they want to create even more growth by expanding. Microsoft is struggling on PC and Xbox and are in desperate need for grwoth.

Not even touching the GP price increase because that doesn't even need anyone to ridicule it.

The fact that they closed on ABK ages ago and haven't moved to put any of the games on Game Pass (aside from a flailing Diablo 4 as a good will gesture) speaks volumes re: the conflict behind the scenes.
