Arc Raiders | Gameplay Reveal

Looks like the division except not as good. Had a great time with the division, not so much the division 2.

Looks pretty nice though, lighting looks decent.

Positive side: Sound design. I like it a lot. Graphics look really good too.

Negative: It's not what I wanted. Looking back on the first trailer, that's still the game I want and it's still difficult for me to get past that right now.

Lastly, I can't put this on the positive side because I ultimately don't know but price point has me encouraged to maybe take a leap even after what I said about the negative. Reason is because F2P games tend to give you barebones out the gate and shit on your progression in my experience for most games I try. It is Embark and I did like The Finals even though I haven't played it in a hot minute(I still update it and check for skins). And whatever economy they have will be more on the consumer friendly side. At least that what I want to believe lol.

Looks nice. I respect Embark after their solid work on The Finals. However, this genre is not for me.Yeah just no thanks. Interesting enough, the game does look solid despite being a little generic.

All they had to do was create Generation , zero in a modern setting with good controllers and occasional raids, and a large open world with a base player count per server. But we get this instead.

Hands-on impressions:

Kinda boring combat with lame enemy types being small drones and humans, and I'm pretty over the wasteland aesthetic. Are there other map biomes or is it all just trashy desert stuff?

I still remember the reveal trailer showing giant spider mecha or something and having a really cool 80s soundtrack vibe, lots of shit happening on the screen like missiles flying around etc. That all seems to be gone now, probably in favor of balance and accessibility. The game itself might be fun to play but it absolutely is boring to watch, especially when you're playing it "correctly". This was just as boring (but admittedly less frustrating) as the leak gameplay footage a week or two ago.

Anyways, I was likely never going to buy this game, so my opinion is nearly worthless here. If this looks good to you, I hope you enjoy it.

Hope this fixes my Call of Duty DMZ itch. Liked the reveal trailer years ago and the gameplay preview seems interesting enough. The beta word to mouth gives hope. Certainly trying this.

Looks good, its still a shame its no longer a looter game. I don't really like extraction type games, I prefer more laidback games these days. But aesthetically it looks good to be honest. Hoping to see more of this game.

It doesn't look anything close to that video of its announcement that was supposed to be gameplay...:messenger_confused:
I'm sitting here thinking the same thing, the foliage is so static it's distracting the shit out me also. Gray Zone using ue5 has more animated foliage.

I can't help but feel a bit let down here. The game isn't shaping up to its original vision, which had me hooked in the first place. The sound design is great; no surprise considering the developers are former DICE staff.

I can't even tell what they are shooting at except for the initial flying robot, are the enemy in the indoors other humans? Zombies? Robots?

They made the dark zone from the division.

The game will probably have a dedicated following. I wont be one of em. I like my mp games quick 15 minute sessions.

I'm not very much into extraction shooters besides Tarkov. This looks very "meh". If we get a playable open beta I could see if in person it feels better than it looks.

This looks utterly bland and generic after that initial trailer. What happened? It's like they just completely forgot the original 80s Sci-Fi direction and instead combined TLOU with The Division.

What's the hook? It's it PvPvE? Getting some TLOU factions vibes
It's a PvP centric RPG where your characters growth feels earned due to the choices (risks) you make.

So in most traditional RPG's the encounters are created for players to essentially beat on their first try. Low resistance, they just want to hurry you along to the next cutscene.

In this genre, if you want to upgrade your characters armor, you have to load into a PvP instance and figure out how to procure it. The genre gives players a wide variety of tactics and strategies to obtain the armor upgrade, but it doesn't care if you actually do. That makes building your character 100x more satisfying. That also means when you've kitted out your character exactly how you want, you REALLY don't want to lose it by dying. It's the closest thing videogames have to a human hunting simulator.

Sounds like it gives DayZ vibes then, which for my money was one of the more novel and intense experiences I've had.

I would have tried this one if it was structured like division but extraction stuff is not my cup of tea, it was fun in extremely small does in the dark zone of division but that's it.

It looks really good! No purple hair or super mario theme color. This game is made by bf3 and 4 veterans right?
