Looks like it has fewer lame wet blanket characters than The Beekeeper!

Looks pretty cool, love a good Statham movie!

But I kinda feel like I just watched the whole movie in that trailer.

Hey now!!! My parents live with me and I walked in and they were watching it a few weeks ago. My momma thinks he can do that in real life and loves him while I did 5 combat tours and she thinks I'm just some dude. Watch it, sir. 😂

...yes, that's how they have partial control over James Bond. Happened years ago.
Wait, wait, wait? You telling me that they have partial control over the single greatest man in all of publishing? They are going to make it a gay, woman, person of color, aren't they? Damn it.

He's pretty shit. Insane that Fairbrass is so overlooked while this bender coasts through.

Better off watching Footsoldier 3, Marbella and Vengeance.

Oh boy, didn't they just mess up The Lord of Power series or something? What are young men going to do not being to learn how to pick up women with bravado and awesomeness?

The man is John Wick, a dirty MacDyver, and Commando all rolled into beautiful unicorn to which young men could look up to.

My day is in ruins, folks.

I legit love Transporter 1. Good mix of action and a really nice setting (France). Wish he would do something like that again. I watched Beekeeper while on a flight, and the writing was really bad. The plot was quite corny, too. It was so corny that it killed the immersion, though the fight scenes were solid.

At this point I think the Statham has played every blue collar job.

He's been a
Streetseller
Boxing promotor
A cop
Corrupt cop
A homeless bum
A mechanic
A beekeeper
A construction worker.

Some underrated Statham films people should check out.

Revolver - great film that explored the human ego.
Hummingbird is different for Jason. Not much action.

We already have a thread about this.

TLDR: The Broccoli's still have control and are stonewalling discussion on a new Bond movie precisely for the reason your talking about. Amazon wants a film/tv universe and a "modern" Bond.

Compared to most streaming trash, the beekeeper was a throw back action movie. The types of which they don't really seem to make well anymore (the type that used to get a release at the cinema every few weeks, back in the day and on a low ish budget)

I mean the beekeeper wasn't great, neither was the Meg 2. But the stath just keeps plugging away. Most of the time you know what you are getting. And he hits that's mark. Plus as a bonus you get a few laughs

I'll watch this new one. I heard the book it was based on wasn't bad and besides. It can't be any worse than something like carry on …..

I love Jason Statham, obviously. Even in his worst films he has a screen presence and charisma that just works. They can take the EXACT SAME SCRIPT and throw some faded actress or past his prime actor in there and it is unwatchable, but Statham makes it fun.

Not sure how well he is holding up these days for the physical stuff but I wish he would team up with the other good actor martial artists like Scott Adkins. The more recent JCVD films could use some help as well, he is still in good shape and can throw a spinning high kick but the choreography and gunplay isn't tight enough. Of the 80's/90's guys I think he is the most convincing physically, though his acting hasn't improved much. I wonder if Jeff Speakman still has the moves, he had a pretty unique style.

Interesting that there is a wave of "child trafficking" films coming out right now. Obviously stuff like Man on Fire T'd it up and Sound of Freedom REALLY pushed it, but I think most of these films are still imitating TAKEN in the way COUNTLESS films did "Die Hard but on a XXX" back in the day.
