I can't back that up I'm afraid. Pretty sure I read about that in a magazine back in the days.

If I remember correctly, it's a spiritual sequel to Deep Fear on the Saturn. Same director or something.

Also as much as I like these game their gameplay did not age well at all, it needs LOT OF WORK to bring to modern systems.

But I love .hack series.

I admit the actual gameplay was kinda trash but still very unique and atmospheric game.

Extermination is not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination. It's the very definition of a middling example of its genre.
