Ac doesn't have weight management or potions but the loot is more rpg-ish than witcher 3 and the structure is about the same, althought shadows shaked tjings here and there, if you play originas and odissey they really felt like bootleg witcher 3 games with way worse writing but better combat and traversal.

Witcher 3 combat is far from great, but I'd still put it above modern AC games. The AC combat is about as generic and boring as it gets. Neat finisher animations doesn't make the combat good. Traversal is definitely better, though.

Yeah, that might be true. But what I mean is that it makes him pretty boring and pointless in the story. Good for them. The Witcher 3 RPG mechanics aren't any better. What it has is much better writing, far more believable characters, an engaging story, a compelling and original world, and several other things that make it superior to anything Ubisoft has released in the past 2 decades. The RPG mechanics aren't one of its strengths, so don't bring this up as a reason as to why it sells so well on PC. BG3? Sure. Even games like Fallout and Skyrim that have had their RPG core stripped naked over the years still offer more roleplaying than TW3.

PC players never cared for AC. It started off as a lame action/stealth game. Ubisoft were complete assholes to the PC crowd, calling them pirates among other things. The uplay, now Ubisoft Connect, was and is still maligned by the PC player base, hence why they're releasing this one day one on Steam once and for all, and their ports of AC games up until like Black Flag were absolute trash. As such, the series never really took off on PC like it did on consoles and Ubisoft's reputation never recovered among PC gamers. Those are big reasons AC isn't all that hot on PC. It's also stale, repetitive, bloated, and not all that good, but that's true on consoles too. Better games to waste 70 hours on, especially since oldies like Oblivion or Morrowind are still playable on PC.

Kinda clunky souls lite with some actual impact and weapon variety beat the retarded spin moves with barely any impact and the queen to win everyday of the week for me, so agree to disagree.

Until Ubi changes the formula, it's pretty safe to just say: Did you like Odyssey? Valhalla? get it. Did you dislike them? Then don't get it, because this is more of that.

Only positives I see is the world looks great and they finally made the skill tree better. The skill tree in Valhalla is one of the worst I've ever seen in a game.

Everybody knows game's AI's are generally all trash. There are few exceptions. KCD2 for instance has some good AI.
Ubisoft hasnt made a game with good AI in ages. Most companies arent better.

But generally all games have horrible AI.

I agree with AC being spammy and requiring no skill, but the combat has weight. Some of the executions have a nice feedback and you feel the brutality and power behind them, especially in Origins. Geralt's in constrast swords feel like styrofoam sticks and I'm not even sure whether I hit my target or not sometimes.

Not that the combat is good in either game, but I favor the melee approach of AC. However, I prefer the enemy variety in TW and it's nice how different monsters have different strengths and weaknesses and you can employ tactics to make the fights easier.

I am allowed to view reviews and posts based on AC games still as it is a series I was once fond, Just because I might not like current AC it doesn't mean I don't hope a new release will mix things up a bit and have a more unique feel to its combat and a less sterile world.

I will stand tall and say that this game did not excite me, I was against Yasuke inclusion because I dont think he fits the style of the game, and I wanted a japanese shinobi.

But I will fairly say the game is not bad, in fact its pretty damn good. And a lot better than I expected in most ways. There are some flaws here and there, but those are generally flaws that Ive come to expect from ubisoft's previous AC games.

Sadly there is a unfair hate parade against this game now. And that's just how I see it.

There is more to a game than just it's flaws like xray vision and dumb combat/ai you know like great characters, Story, Plot and Setting and authenticity of the world you're exploring they all play a role in liking a game and even loving it.

It's impossible for everyone (in that huge the open world ) to have seen Yasuke. Even if they had heard of him, a person from any other race, whether white or black ,would have seemed strange to them.

The Japanese (and even broader Asian societies at that time) were very xenophobic, and they held prejudices against other races. And yes even if they saw him every day, they would still have prejudices. It was a feudal society, so it's unrealistic to expect them to treat someone of a different race like modern society. A lots of Asia countries ( include Japan) used to refer to white people faces as ''devil faces'' "white demon" in the past, and some people still use this term even today. So expected they treated him like normal japanese man is unrealistic.

This is ultimately why I personally put TW3 over AC combat. Neither I feel is "good", but enemy variety is better in TW3. AC difficulty largely comes down to more blocks or more health, but similar or same combat. TW3 suffers the same problem, where all humanoid enemies more or less have the same move types. TW3, personally, is also helped by the expansions. Where I felt diversity lacked by the end of the base game, they added more variety into Blood & Wine to give me an overall better impression. I only put TW3 over AC combat as a full package, not the base game alone, however I don't feel combat in TW3 or AC is particularly "good", just serviceable. I'm fond of TW3 because of everything else and was an overall start to finish enjoyable experience.

One of my problems with AC Origins and Odyssey is they do this thing where the story sucks most of the game, but gets good the last few hours. Valhalla I didn't finish as it was just incredibly boring, but from reviews for Shadows it looks like Shadows suffers from this same problem. I really want to enjoy AC because I have such fond memories of everything up until Black Flag, but I just really dislike this more modern "generic slop" style that Ubisoft insists on copying and pasting again and again in a new environment.

Yeah, and that's a problem with a lot of long games. The middle part just feels like filler. This reminds me of most GTA games where the main antagonist shows up early on, and then you barely hear about him until the end of the game. The middle act just has the story come to a grinding halt. In TW3, it's always moving forward and all the main objectives progress the plot.

I swear Ubisoft believes that if they add a little bit of depth to their combat that gamers would stop playing their games altogether. It's the single reason I can never get into any of the AC games. Do they not realize that Elden Ring has sold 25mil copies? Gamers enjoy games with depth

It is incredibly infuriating because Ubisoft creates some of the most gorgeous game worlds in the industry, but they dont know how to create an enjoyable gameplay loop. So much wasted talent. It makes me want to punt a baby everytime a new AC game releases
