GameStop stores will have ~100 Nintendo Switch 2 consoles at launch, but very limited games and accessories inventory

100 sounds like a lot to me. My Walmart had 10 Switch when it came out. I know it's a different store but it kind of gives me hope that I might be able to secure a preorder.

The business model is screwed. The accessories and cartridges are made in China.

How long until a $165 pro controller in $ USD? Nintendo will eat the cost at first, but it won't be for long.

Will be $800 at Gamestop bundled in with 2 Mad Cow controllers and a $90 copy of Breath of the Wild (digital).

You also forgot to include(I'm messing about but also not) that they'll also require you to have the $25 membership or no purchase allowed.

They did that with PS Portal and I've no reason to think it'd stop with the Switch.

General retail process is as follows:

  1. Retailer gets advanced pricing and delivery schedule (at the very least this is a fiscal quarter before release...but usually 3 quarters)
  2. Retailer builds a RO (run order) or Sell Through Limit or, at the very least a "this is what we want to sell" list. (this list will impact a TON of stuff for the retailer. Merchandise credits from the seller, free marketing, in-store labor...all kinds of stuff. Ultimately you buy more you get more).
  3. Retailer works with Advertising Partners to plan for store placement (planograms). This will generate size and PoP (point of purchase) requirements for the individual retailer.
  4. Seller (in this case Nintendo) will offer up a set amount of marketing materials and depending on the engagement with the retailer they may also provide a pod (product on display) for the retailer to place in their stores. This is usually done with large scale partners (target, best buy, etc) and in some cases the supplier will even pay for this to be installed in your location(s)....depending on your retail location space allocation, and length of marketing engagement the retailer agreed to.
  5. Retailer then pays their bill.
  6. Seller gets all of their PoP ready, ships that out to their retailer marketing partners or ships directly to a central retailer R/DAW (regional/district area warehouse) if the retailer is going to execute the planograms themselves.

Typically (maybe this has changed...it has been quite a few years since I had any oversite to this) if the retailer doesn't have a product to offer it is because they choose not to stock (buy) those items from the seller. (This doesn't apply to 3rd party accessories).
If I had to guess, gamestop will have plenty of 3rd party accessories (more margin here), but will have few first party ones (they make less margin on these).

Only need the Mario kart bundle. Nintendo already confirmed that the switch 1 pro controller works so no need to buy anything else.

This is not a Nintendo-only problem. Sony and MS' stuff is made there too. Hell, Almost everything is made in China nowadays. You might want to check where you're aiming that frustration...

Doesn't the Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle or regular Switch 2 console include a controller anyway like every console in existence or do they somehow don't include a controller?

100% correct. I don't even know what happens next with all of that. PS5 could get hammered.

The only thing i think is "used game & accessories" values should be going up. GameStop will surely raise the used prices on controllers for all systems.

My closest GameStop closed this past weekend. I popped in to say goodbye to the two remaining employees. One of them got transferred to a store 50 miles north and the other one got left go at the close of business that day. It was sad to see all of the empty shelves and a couple of Amiibo remaining.
More on topic: I'm going to start looking elsewhere for my consoles.

Same thing happened to my closest store 3 weeks ago. I was planning to get Switch 2 from them as traffic was always super light and chill.

Now I have to go inside of a mall to the closest store and those are some of the worst Gamestops to shop at in my experience.

Yep, after a GameStop in a normal outdoor plaza closed, the only ones nearby are in two different malls. I am too old for that shit.

If I can't get a pre order or there's no email from Nintendo unless I just so happen to get one out the blue like the original when I was in Japan at the time then nah, I'm good lol

Their pro membership is actually really really good if shop there frequently or care about physical games.

Has 8bitDo or Nintendo made any confirmation if the current 8bitDo Pro Controllers for Switch will work on Switch 2? Its an amazing controller and i'm hoping they'll be compatibile without making us buy new Switch 2 versions....

It comes with the joycons just like the switch 1 did and it has that little adapter where you can put them together and it forms somewhat of a normal controller (never personally liked it on switch 1).

I personally only play mine in docked mode 99% of the time so the pro controller on switch 1 is just fine, though not sure what I will do without the C button being on my controller 🫠. I'll just have to live life day by day.

I've been typing Switch 2 Amazon on google for the past few days and it doesn't even exist on Amazon yet, all I see are Switch 1 and Switch 1 OLED being sold there. Was hoping to find a Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle for 500 but they don't even have any Switch 2 on sale at least in the U.S

I'm not in any hurry since by the time I decide to get it months later, all gamespot would probably have stocks for it. But at the same time I'll just carry 550 dollars (500+ tax) on me from now on so whenever I decide to visit Gamespot and if they somehow have the 500 Kart World bundle, I might just get it.

Yeah I was reading up on the Pro Controller vs Joycon controller on reddit and people in the comments were saying the Pro Controller is a must for Dock users and I also play on Dock 99% of the time. That's another almost 90 dollar after tax for it.

Lots of 3rd party controllers like 8bitdo and gamesir work on switch 1 (not sure about 2 yet). I'm also sure you can find the original pro controller for much cheaper.
