Rocky is a great film. 2-4 are guilty pleasure slices of 80's cheese. 5 doesn't exist. 6 is a nice coda to the series.

1, easily.

First one. It was a love story with boxing as the backdrop.

After that the series became a parody of itself.

First is the best, but the fourth is the most enjoyable because of how ridiculously stupid it is.

The right answer is 4. Nailed it.

The best are the first two. Both movies are like one much longer, larger story chronicling successes and failures. I guess I missed key factors that make 2 worse than 1.

And then Rocky 6.

Rocky 3 & 4 are good, but they felt extremely "mainstream" so to speak.

Rocky 5 was a really cool idea, but not as a last movie in the series and it kind of dragged at times, especially its montage.

Rocky IV, paulie's weird sex toy robot and all.

Ivan Drago punches with a force of 2000 psi, about the same force as a double barrel shotgun blast lol. Great movie.

I disagree. III is the most stupid.

Rocky gets educated and rich and do to his hubris (probably the same one that cost Apollo his title to Rocky) he is demoralized.

In 1 he fights for his sense of self-worth
In 2 he fights for the kids of Philadelphia and to put Apollo in his place
In 3 he fights to feel good again
In 4 he fights communism and avenge Apollo
In 5 he wages an underground war against crooked crooked boxing promoters and their clients
In 6 he fights for old people

3's purpose feels the weakest to me. At least it had Hulk Hogan. And this:

Favorite is Rocky III because:

Mr. T as Clubber Lang is just something else.

Well, the first Rocky is obviously the best, and my favourite as well. I would elaborate more, but Solo already summed it up nicely.

I found it odd that the movie painted Soviet's as having the most high tech training equipment, pouring money into research/development to make him a better fighter etc. but they painted Rocky as philistine, lumberer axe wielding heart of gold victory from within kind of guy.

I always thought why wouldn't you side with the technology? Why does having 'simpler' training methods make you better? And how could you argue the US was any sort of underdog in that regard during the cold war? That was all too silly for me to ignore. Plus I'm a dirty commie sympathizer so I don't go for the patriotic cold war stuff anyway.

Rocky 1 still gives me goosebumps though, loved Rocky 6 too.

Even though it's not as good as the others, I enjoyed Rocky 3 more than the rest - it was really fun and embodied the time it was filmed.

Rocky Balboa might be my actual favorite though. Dark, depressing, and still great. Loved it.

FYI Rocky was originally written to die at the end of IV after his speech about change.

Rocky IV for sure!

The first movie I saw without my parents! After the movie we climbed the highest pile of snow and shouted DRAGO!

Rocky 1 by far is the best, everything about it. The fact that rocky was an huge underdog to win, apollos face and reactions during their fight were priceless, just seeing rocky keep getting up after the assault Apollo gives him and the uter look of amazement that Apollo shows after rocky keeps getting up and calling him on gives me chills.

The first one will always be the best one to me, because it just keeps things humble and real. But III or IV are the best "fuck yeah!" movies.

I liked VI as well, it was a pretty good send off for the series.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAULIE

Stupidest moment in a Rocky movie? Yeah, I think so. But I love how everything from the early to mid 80's were trying to have that faux futuristic look. .
