PAL Charts - Week 40, 2012

I don't know what they should do. They'd need not only an injection of brand new vitality in the brand itself ( new logo, new menus, special game modes) but they need a very big advertising. FIFA beats the crap out of PES now also due to the fact FIFA is everywhere, while PES isn't. But that costs a lot of money...unless they decide to take a very risky move and make the game exclusive to one specific platform / hardware house. It'd be publicised just for the fact it's exclusive. PES's numbers right now are so low compared to the glorious past that making it exclusive could even be a good thing. And in the case, Sony should give its support to Konami with no regrets.

FIFA used to be just as bad and honestly the reason why PES lost the ground was simply through word of mouth as it wasn't just that FIFA was getting better at the start of the gen but PES went donwhill pretty bad.

Yet it is so simple. Just make a HD version of the glorious, never beaten Pro Evolution Soccer 4 and make damn sure the option to change the angle of the camera is still in place. They 've removed the option in the PES games of this gen and I am still mighty pissed about it.

Anyway to conclude: make a HD-version of Pro Evolution Soccer 4 and update the squads and you are ready: best soccer game ever!

UK:
September 2012
  1. FIFA 13
  2. Borderlands 2
  3. Sleeping Dogs
  4. F1 2012
  5. Guild Wars 2
  6. New Super Mario Bros. 2
  7. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes
  8. Pro Evolution Soccer 2013
  9. London 2012: The Official Video Game
  10. World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

EA accounted for 52% of revenue in September, which corresponds to approximately £56m.

WE 06/10/2012: £28.6m, 889,960 units
YTD: £534.6m (-26%), 21.7m units (-29%)

Switzerland:
2011 total units (hardware + software) remained flat compared to 2010. Over 4 million units, but revenue declined 14% to 296m Swiss francs.

Console + handheld accounted or 2.9 million units of software and 386,000 units of hardware. PC was just shy of 700,000 units of software.

Hardware price for the 3DS is too high. Software prices for the 3DS is too high. Combine the terrible state of the handheld market with the terrible UK market and you get the so called "mario machine" and Vita which wishes it was the "mario machine". Blah blah sticks and buttons but people need to finally admit that with the option to play much cheaper games elsewhere the concept of handheld gaming at the pricepoints offered is not attractive to many people

Hardware price is too high for the 3DS but not by much imo. Software prices are a much bigger issue. The lack of any decent games is a much bigger issue than both though. There is just so little worth owning on the system and a handful of big releases won't change that.

What? There are already many "decent" ( I mean, at least decent) games on the platform and there are more in the upcoming future.

I disagree and i'm a pretty big fan of nintendo. I just don't think its software line-up is very appealing at all and i know so many people who feel the same way. They have done well building a strong library of games in Japan and are being rewarded with strong sales. Until they do the same in the west they will struggle.

If only it were a top 10 or even more...top 5 is too little IMHO.

Ehi, UK Charts time!

It’s a hat-trick of weeks at the top for ‘FIFA 13’ (-63%), but newcomer ‘Dishonored’ from Bethesda debuts strongly at No2 with the biggest new IP launch so far this year (ahead of Sleeping Dogs). There are 3 more new entries that make the Top 10 - ‘Pokemon Black Version 2’ at No3, ‘Pokemon White Version 2’ at No5 and Take 2’s ‘XCOM: Enemy Unknown’ reboot at No7. Even with the sales of both new DS Pokemon games combined, Dishonored would have still been at No2. Sales of ‘Resident Evil 6’ fall 78% as it drops from No2 to No4, while ‘Just Dance 4’ also drops 2 places, this despite a sales increase of 36%. XCOM is Take 2’s biggest selling title this week as ‘Borderlands 2’ (-44%) drops from No3 to No8, ahead of ‘F1 2012’ (-32%) and ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ (-17%). There is a debut at No27 for Pqube’s ‘WRC 3: FIA World Rally Championship’, while Microsoft’s new Kinect title ‘Fable: The Journey’ debuts at No37.

RE6 dropped much more than RE5 ( 78% v.s. 52%), but RE5 came out on Friday, while RE6 on Tuesday.
Dishonored more than 52.587.

Didn't notice RE6 is basically between the two Pokèmon SKUs XD

Go Dishonored go!

I'd be surprised if Resident Evil 6 surpasses Resident Evil 5's sales given the mighty drops. It debuted immensely in Japan but that will probably be a big drop again for the second week. Anyone know how RE6 is doing in NA?

Angry Birds up 5 places. Must be word-of-mouth as people hear about a hidden gem amongst the AAAAAA trash.

Vita going from strength to strength must be making the Mario Machine nervous.

Outsold by a 2 months old Mario game; Losing places; Never in the top ten
...

Keep dreaming
