My father passed away seven years ago today.

I remember when my great-grandmother passed away several years ago. I didn't expect—she was looking quite healthy when I last visited her at a post-surgery party—but she was almost a centenarian, so I knew it would happen eventually.

Death's quite something, and it sticks with you.

It will be two years for my father in just under 6 months.

I know what you mean about the being okay about it. I still like to take time to think about him and keep him fresh in my heart though.

My condolences man.

I can sympathize. My father passed away 10 years ago in November. I wept at his grave for the first time in years - it was really difficult this time, for some reason.

Here's some Game Of Thrones shit.

Gonna make some happy ass threads tomorrow.

20 years next month for me...

Sadly I didnt know him, he left my mother for another woman almost a week before I was born. He was about 10 years older then her and had a son before me with retardation with a woman he met in Korea.
They even lived about 30 minutes away on the "rich" side of town...while I grew up on food stamps, but he never acknowledged me, saw me, called etc.. He even signed my brother over to the state a few months after he remarried.

20 years ago next month I got a call, I was 13 and they were calling to let me know they found my dad on a dirt road with a vacum hose ran from his exhaust to the inside of the car. His wife made sure to tell me if I showed up at the funeral I would be escorted out by police lol. Still dont know why...not sure if I should question it..but I do.

To top this great story off, I spent this last year trying to find my family...not much luck
But I did find this..

Went there about 2 weeks ago with my son, took about 2 hour to drive too but I just felt like it was something I had to do..
Felt wierd, I actually held my son and said "You know what bud, in 33 years this right now is the closes Ive ever been to my father"

My mother passed away 2 weeks before my 15th birthday. It'll be 14 years in May. I know how it feels to lose a loved one. My condolences.

These threads always make me wonder how I would react to losing a parent at my age (26). Don't know that I could handle it, GAF. Maybe most people think that, though. You guys in here are strong -- I hope I'm lucky enough to watch my parents grow old, which is exactly what my own parents were/are able to experience with their folks.

I was 13. It was a few weeks after my birthday. Years later I found out it was a drug overdose.

I imagine it is hard at any age.
