With the current polisphere, there's still time for the show (I assume it's barely in production yet?) to go back and rewrite any 2020s plotlines.

the show will be DoA if it doesn't.

We also don't really need a "new season", just an ep to fill in what actually happened to Malcolm and the rest because the finale was a bit underwhelming.

The original show was regularly reckless and unhinged and didn't give a shit.

Back then Dewey put a brick in his bag to fight off bullies and his brother was proud. Now I can't help but think they'd just have a kid in the same situation talk to his bullies and show them compassion.

And Vaughan Murrae has been cast as Malcolm’s youngest sibling, Kelly whose existence was revealed in the series finale when the boys’ mom, Lois (Kaczmarek), is seen holding a positive pregnancy test.

That sounds like it's open to interpretation, but I will give this revival the benefit of the doubt in that case. I just hope the writing is not plagued with DEI shenanigans.
