Phoebe Waller Bridge is a bit of a hit and miss for me. Fleabag is great, so is the first season of Killing Eve (which is the only season she worked on) but then again the closest to Tomb Raider she did was...Indiana Jones which was a stinker.
I'll be watching this but honestly? Tomb Raider for me it's the remasters and then it's over as a long time fan. I made peace with the fact Lara Croft died when Core Design did.
Angelina Jolie was also the best Lara Croft outside of the original games. The latest movie had a good Lara Croft but she couldn't hit the charisma Jolie had, plus all the daddy issues she had from the latest games didn't help me like her.

Let's be frank about this, if Hollywood was like it was ten years ago, Sydney Sweeney would have been a lock for this, with a terrible British accent, and the fucking thing would have been a massive hit. Or maybe Grace Currey. She would have been great.

Hayley Atwell is 42, she obviously wasn't going to be doing it.
If she can pull of the physicality of the stunts then I can probably suspend my disbelief enough for everything else. I dont go into video game adaptations expecting realism, which is why I mostly enjoyed that uncharted movie.
I never saw the vikander movies, so I have no frame of reference from that either

You're right about the boobies... but I really would like at least one of these things to feature a woman with a physique who actually looks like she could pull off the kinds of action the show will inevitably have her doing. Men bulk the fuck up whenever they do action, why not the women as well?
I'm not talking Abby here... but at least let's have someone who's put some work in to increase muscle mass and density. Lara would have to be physically very fit and strong to do what she does.
This feels like the kind of body they should be going with for Lara:

That's kinda the thing tho. Men in Hollywood are generally encouraged to have these physiques in general... even if you're not playing an action role, if you look athletic you're gonna get attention and gigs. If a woman in Hollywood goes around like that she'd probably get passed up for any roles that ISNT an action film(let alone any modeling opportunities that may come along). I hate the double standard there but it's a long running one.
Im totally down for buffer ladies in movies but I get why a lot of em won't do that... I can't even think of a major Hollywood actress that has a real athletic physique. Even hayley Atwell looks pretty regular in M:I
