100 Days of Not Winning, day by day
Because I have seen a lot of attempts to find the silver linings in the medias in the past week, and because we all need a descent into madness once in a while, here is a recap of Trump's first 100 days (in a shortened version with the most egregious stuff).
By not winning I mean I include, for Trump & Campaign & Friends: Lies, Failures, Infighting, Whining, and just plain embarrassments.
Here we go.
JANUARY
Jan 20 2017: Inauguration: As a rain was visibly falling, Trump would go on declaring that no rain was falling during his speech, the sun just showing up during that one time, waiting for him to be done, as a sign of God's approval.
In his address he went on to declare that ”When you open your heart to Patriotism, there is No Room for prejudice".
Jan 21 2017: Sean Spicer & Trump in tweets declares (falsely) the crowd attending the inauguration was ”the largest ever" , while Aerial photos show this is false.
Jan 22 2017: In a TV interview, Kellyanne Conway defends Spicer 1st press conference, saying that he merely presented ”Alternative Facts", prompting Chuck todd to say
”Alternative Facts are not facts, they're falsehoods"
Jan 23 2017: Trump tells Congressional leaders at private reception that 3 to 5 million illegal voters cost him the popular vote with 0 evidence, and still to this day.
Sean Spicer would go on saying it is ”what the President believes".
Jan 24 2017: Communications between Michael Flynn and Russian ambassador in 2016 officially under investigation
Jan 25 2017: Leak from WH alleges that that a slew of executive orders signed by Trump are not reviewed by relevant agencies before signing, or read by Donald Trump either, but crafted by Steven Bannon and Stephen Miller.
This blindsiding important key personnel such as General Mathis for the executive order on review of Torture/ Extreme interrogation techniques, or without the State Department consultation about the Keystone Pipeline
Jan 26 2017: Spicer says that the border wall might be funded by taxes on mexican product import - which the US public would then pay for.
Jan 27 2017: Trump signs executive order for sudden travel Ban on travel from 7 Muslim countries and causes chaos at airport. No consultation with agencies, no warning.
Jan 28 2017: Federal Judge issues emergency order to block deportations under the new travel ban policy.
Jan 29 2017: Trump authorized Yemen raid by Seals ends up in failure, target objective (head of al Quaeda in Arabian peninsula) not eliminated
(1 SEAL and some civilians died, including a 8 year old American citizen, killed on top of 14 al Quaeda soldiers).Some laptops seized, intelligence value unknown.
Jan 30 2017: Trump has to fire Acting Attorney General Sally Yates after she refuses to enforce Presidential Executive Order on travel ban as it does not appear to be legal to her.
Jan 31 2017: It is reported that an internal memo gathered 900 signatures from State Department officials against the travel ban
FEBRUARY
Feb 1 2017: Trump whines and complains to Australian PM over refugee deal done by Obama, calling it a ”bad deal", but stop short of saying he will not honor the deal.
Feb 2 2017: Sean spicer confirm that ”Iran is on notice" after a ballistic missile test, and describes an attack of a US vessel by Iranian forces that never happened.
Feb 3 2017:Kellyanne Conway, to defend Presidential travel ban, cites fictitious terrorist event ”Bowling Green Massacre"
Feb 4 2017: After a Seattle Judge blocked the travel ban nationwide, Trump tweets calling Seattle Judge a ”so called Judge"
Fe 5 2017: US court of appeal for 9th circuit rejects Trump admin request to dismiss the Seattle Judge decision followed by Trump tweet saying that the Court system is to blame if ”anything bad" happens
Feb 6 2017: During O'Reilly interview, Trump says he respects Putin, and when O Reilly calls Putin a killer, Trump implies that the US has done the same in the past
”Because our country's so innocent? We cannot Judge".
Feb 7 2017: Trump reportedly upset over lampooning of Sean Spicer by Melissa McCarthy, specifically because done by a woman.while a leak from WH reveals that Trump would have called
his National Security Advisor at 3am to ask if a strong dollar or a weak dollar would be better
Feb 8 2017: Trump own pick for SCOTUS criticises his stance on Judges and court system, and when that is revealed to Trump by Senator he refuses to believe it and wrongly calls Dem Senator that did so a liar
Feb 9 2017: During call with Russian leader Putin, Trump denounces the New START treaty about Nuclear disarmament
(after asking an aid what the START treaty even was - it was confirmed that Trump received no pre- call briefing)
Feb 10 2017: During call with China, Trump goes back on previous hard stance of campaign and agrees to honor the ”One China" policy
Feb 11 2017: Hosting Abe Shinzo (JP PM) at Mar A Lago, Trump stops dinner to talk strategy in the middle of dinner with guests around due to NK ballistic missile test.
Then went on to drop by a wedding happening at Mar A Lago with JP PM to talk to guests. It was also revealed that father of Groom is a major Trump campaign donor through PACs.
Incidentally, Trump allowed a guest to take a photo of himself along with man carrying nuclear ”football".
Feb 12 2017: Sen Jeff Flake of Arizona criticizes Trump stance on Judges who blocked his travel ban after Trump called the Judicial system ”broken" in tweets.
Feb 13 2017: General Mike Flynn, National Security Advisor, resigns after it was revealed he misled VP -who vouched for him during inquiry- about Russian conversation & contacts.
It is also revealed that the Trump Administration was warned a month earlier by the Justice Dept about potential blackmail concerns on Flynn and Russia, even before he was sworn in .
Feb 14 2017: Sean Spicer (just as Mike Pence on Jan 15) repeats that nobody in the Trump Admin has had any contacts with Russian agents, but after it was revealed that Mike Flynn did in fact have contacts.
Feb 15 2017: Trump pick for Labor Secretary, Andy Puzder, withdraw from nomination in midst of allegations of spousal abuse, lewd tv ads (Carl's Jr)
and strong resistance from Dems due to stance on labor and minimum wage
Feb 16 2017: Trump in press conference calls himself ”least racist and least anti semitic person", after calling a Jewish reporter a liar and telling him to sit down,
and before asking a black journalist to set up a meeting with the Black Congressional Caucus which, surely, must be her friends.
Feb 17 2017: Trump pick to replace Michael Flynn (Robert Haward) rejects the offer as Trump reportedly won't let him pick his own staff
Feb 18 2017: During rally-style speech, Trump makes false remark on supposed Terrorist attack in Sweden, which never occurred
Feb 19 2017: A Senior Trump admin official (Craig Deare - then head of National Security Council Western Hemisphere division) is let go,
due to remarks made by Deare at a private talk at the wilson center earlier that week during which Deare slammed the Trump admin for its policies on Latin America (particularly Mexico).
Feb 20 2017: Continuing a false claim during rally on Saturday, Trump tweet ”Fake Media" is pretending everything is going well with immigration in Sweden. Not!"
Feb 21 2017: Milo Yiannopoulos, controversial protege of Trump advisor Steven Bannon and scheduled to speak at CPAC (speak then cancelled by ACU due to controversy,
and book deal for ”dangerous" cancelled by S&S for the same reason) resigns from Breitbart due to declarations seemingly supporting pedophilia
Feb 22 2017: Trump signs an Executive Order rolling Back president Obama's previous order protecting Transgender students' use of bathrooms, after signaling he would be on the side of the LGBTQ during his campaign
Feb 23 2017: It is revealed that the WH via Reince Priebus has asked (on Feb 15) the FBI to leak positive reports about the Trump admin, in particular denying that any Russian contacts occurred. The FBI refused to do so.
Feb 24 2017: Trump makes speech at CPAC where he again calls Media ”dishonest press" and says that ”fake news" is the ”enemy of the people", as ”they have no sources and they just make it up".
Later on the same day, Trump slams the FBI for not being able to track down leaks, which he declared ”inexistent because the press has no sources and is making everything up" on the very same day
Feb 25 2017: Trump declares in Tweet that thanks to him the debt dropped $12b in his first month in office -
It is later that day clarified by a leader of non partisan Committee for a Responsible Budget that it had nothing to do with his policies that early on and rather a normal cycle of existing factors continuing from the Obama Presidency era.
Feb 26 2017: Trump nominee for Navy Secretary Philip Bilden withdraws his name because of reported extensive financial ties that would clash with the Defense Department Ethics requirement
(Bilden was a Hong Kong based financier with deep ties in Asia).
Feb 27 2017: Trump declares they (Trump & Republican in Congress & Ryan) have come up with a solution that he thinks is really good (for ACA replacement)
and goes on to say ”Nobody knew health care could be so complicated".
Feb 28 2017: During his State of Union Speech, Trump refers to Yemen raid as being ”very successful", honors memory of fallen SEAL
but during the Fox & Friends interview that morning he put the blame for ”failed mission" on the generals who ”sold him" on the mission
MARCH
March 1 2017: Revealed that Jeff Session, nominated for AG, met twice with Russian envoy in 2016 and did not disclose it in hearings, playing with words around the meaning of the question.
Session will later have to amend his filings to include said conversations.
March 2 2017: With the controversy around his failure to disclose meeting with Russians, Jeff Sessions ends up recusing himself from any inquiry about Russian involvement in 2016 campaign
or possible ties between Trump Campaign and Kremlin.
March 3 2017: Marco Rubio blasts Secretary of State Tillerson for not presenting himself, as is customary, the yearly report on Human Rights
March 4 2017: Via early morning tweets, Trump baselessly (later reported possibly based on TV report on Fox or Alex Jones on Radio) accuses
former President Barrack Obama of illegal ”wiretaps" during 2016 campaign in tweets, and calls him a ”sick man".
Later on would go on saying he did not mean wiretap ”literally".
March 5 2017: James Clapper, former director of National Intelligence, as well as Ben Rhodes, Deputy National Security advisor under Obama, flat out deny the existence of any FISA for surveillance on Trump.
The WH issues a statement that Congress should investigate the Trump alleged ”Obama surveillance" on Trump during the 2016 election
March 6 2017: New travel ban Executive Order signed by Trump, minus Iraq in the list
and some revisions on the language, the previous Order is abandoned by the Dept of Justice.
March 7 2017: Hardliner GOP groups are opposed to the new healthcare plan, calling it Ryancare, or Obamacare 2.0.
Defending the new Healthcare plan of the Republicans, GOP Jason Chatfetz (Utah) claims that lower income Americans might have to ”choose between a new Iphone and healthcare"
March 8 2017: Hawai judge puts temporary stay on travel ban v2.0
March 9 2017: Sean Spicer says WH ”not aware" of any Trump administration investigation for Russian ties while In an Interview
VP Mike Pence says that Flynn's newly revealed ties to Turkey are a validation of Trump's decision to let him go
March 10 2017: GOP rushing to pass the ACA repeal and new healthcare bill through congress after a 27 hour hearing - Rep Kevin Brady says ”This is Obamacare - Gone".
March 11 2017: Preet Bharara, US Attorney in NY, announced he was actually fired by Trump administration after refusing to give his resignation.
Jeff Session is trying to obtain the resignation from 46 US attorneys that were from Obama admin era. Bharara was reportedly told in November 2016 by Trump that he would actually stay after the transition.
March 12 2017: Rand Paul (KY) announces that in spite of push from WH and Paul Ryan he is not, among others, going to vote for the GOP healthcare plan.
Paul Ryan says in an interview he has seen nothing so far to support the Trump Surveillance claims
March 13 2017: The CBO report on the Healthcare bill proposed by Republicans with Trump backing reveals that 24m US insured would lose their health insurance.
The Freedom Caucus in particular finds the current bill far too generous, and is pushing for less ER coverage and a lesser coverage of pre existing conditions, with a lot of expenses being deferred to States
- which pushes moderate Reps to oppose the bill as well.
March 14 2017: After having heavily criticized HRC and Ted Cruz for their work and ties with Goldman Sachs, another Goldman Sachs executive is nominated on that day in the Trump administration.
This time Jim Donovan for the #2 position at the Treasury dept. He would himself report to the #1 position at the Treasury, Steve Mnuchin, himself having spent nearly 20 years at Goldman Sachs before.
Other Trump appointees from Goldman Sachs were Dina Powell (Deputy National Security Advisor), Gary Cohn who left a top position at GS with $285m parachute
(Trump Economic Adviser) and Jay Clayton a lawyer who was representing GS to now be the new leader of the SEC (which investigates financial crimes).
Clayton's wife works at Goldman Sachs as a private wealth advisor. As a side note, Steve Bannon also worked at GS in the 80s.
