For those of you interested. Absolutely packed with great numbers and questionable conclusions.

CVXFREAK said:Page 27: "We do not expect any serious competition for the GBA/GBA SP/DS in the forseeable future. The primary market for handheld consoles is the 8-to-12 year old gamer and Nintendo's games dominate this market segment."
CVXFREAK said:Here's some crucial figures and stuff:
Older U.S. Console Sales:
NES: 36.3 Million units (*Actual)
SNES: 20 Million units (*Actual)
N64: 18.0 Million units (*Actual)
GC: 16.4 Million units (*Projected)
I agree up to this point...but then it takes a wrong turn...Mashing said:It's call competition.. the NES didn't have any, unless you want to count the SMS which I do not...
what a piece of shit that was
Competition entered the market and did very well. I guess you can blame a company for not adhering to a consumer's tastes but nothing is infallible and even Nintendo will sccumb to an extremely well placed attack (that attack would be Sega's Genesis).thorne said:where did nintendo go wrong? somewhere between NES and SNES apparently..

Looking at this:
Retailer 2003 Marketshare Videogames:
1. Walmart 21%
2. Best Buy 13%
3. GameStop 12%
4. Target 10%
5. Toys R Us 9%
6. Electronics Boutique 9%
7. Circuit City 4%
8. KB Toys 3%
9. Kmart 2%
10. Costco 1%
11. Others 16%
TOTAL: 100%
Why is Walmart not included in the NPD? If they have that much marketshare, then aren't all the numbers way off for all consoles? Or is this just game sales marketshare?
