2017 FIFA Confederations Cup | OT | 17 June – 2 July 2017 | Putin on a show

Chile is not going to the world cup at this time. Think about it. You guys don't even understand how easy it is for you to go. Conmebol qualifiers are BRUTAL.

I don't think Chile will fall to 6th. They'll play Paraguay, Bolivia, Ecuador and Brazil next, all bottom 5 teams except for Brazil who are already qualified. And even if they finish 5th, they'll beat New Zealand (or Solomon Islands lol) in the playoffs.

Nah, we are totally better than Ecuador and go toe to toe with Colombia. We would be fighting repechage positions at least.

You guys would had no chance to qualify, even Argentina at this point is not int he next world cup, chile is out at the moment, trust me you guys would be behind Chile if you were playing in the Conmebol.

Sry Chile was out before, they are ahead of Argentina now thanks to the 3 points the won making that claim on FIFA.

Paraguay and Ecuador are not that easy.

Lol, Paraguay and Ecuador are at least Mexico levels. And we have to play with Bolivia in La Paz, which is always incredibly hard, Brazil and Argentina never win there.

Just came to do a drive post to say I don't like the video review at all. Yes it allowed them to get the call right with the PK in this case, but it just kills the flow of the game.

If the video review was almost as fast as Goal Line technology I might be okay with it. But these 30-60 second delays are ridiculous . I rather have a faster game where we complain about the refs instead of American Football type game where every close call has to be reviewed by a city council of refs.

It's new to everyone at the tournament. The turn around from the incident to the decision has to be much quicker before it becomes the norm, though.

Quaresma is the type of guy I'd expect to pull up on me on a vespa and kill me while I enjoy my coffee outside a restaurant.

You guys bitch about Quito and La Paz all the time. Mexico City is just as extenuating

Why is there extra time in the 3rd place match :/

Hmmm.... there is Extra Time in all post group-stage national team competitions bro. A 3rd place match is no different.

A BETTER question is why there is a 3rd place match in the first place. The Euro doesn't have it, no one cares there. You already missed your goal by not reaching the final, a 3rd place match is a pity offer basically. Just tie both semi-final losers at 3rd place and that's that.

I generally like 3rd place matches, particularly the World Cup. If the coaches put in fresh players or those who didn't play much prior in the tournament, then they can often be entertaining open matches. Also sometimes a 3rd place games can provide some interesting matchups.

The problem with the Confederations Cup is that they are only 8 teams with only 2-3 legit contenders. . So the 3rd place match doesn't seem all that necessary, especially because often the teams already met in group play.

But I think the 3rd place match is fine in the World Cup or any major tournament where there is 16+ teams.
